Adrien's POV

I'm honestly kind of scared... Not for me, but for my princess. Since I sat down, I noticed my parents examining Marinette. They told me they were going to test her... And I don't know what that means...  I thought they were going to do something less discreet at another time, but now I'm regretting my decision to bring her here.

"Mr. Agreste?" I heard someone ask, disrupting my thoughts. I looked toward the sound, to notice one of my maids asking what I wanted to eat.

"Uhhh, I'll have a medium stake. And red wine." I ordered the first thing that came to mind.

"Adrien?" I heard my baby's sweet voice once the maid left to get the food.

"Yeah?" I asked, gaining consciousness of my surrounding, since I had been zoning off the whole time.

"Is... Is everything ok?" She questioned in a low voice as my parents were engaged in their own conversation.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't stress princess." I smiled and patted her lap trying to keep her calm... Or maybe myself. I'm not sure what to do without creating a mess between everyone. I think mom and dad are planning something, but I don't know how to prove it. And if a say something to Marinette, I would have to explain everything here, and possibly make everything more awkward, since I may be wrong. Besides, if I'm right, my parents would hear and do something else, find another way to 'test' Marinette. I guess I'll just wait and see what they have, and be ready to intervene if it becomes too much for my princess.

"So how is everything going between you two?" I heard my mother ask. I looked at Marinette, who was already facing me with blushing cheeks.

"You don't seem to be trying to kill each other. Almost opposite, I'd dare say." My father added looking over at me. I was confused, but then realized he had noticed the ring. I didn't know what to answer and of course neither did Marinette. So I was thankful when we got interrupted by the maid with our food.

"Is there anything else I shall help you with?" The maids asked setting down the plates and cups.

"No, that's it." Answered my mother after moment of silence. We kept eating peacefully, for a couple minutes. My parents kept asking questions and having conversations between themselves. My lady was quite a bit quiet, but I figured it was just because she barely knew any of us. She just answered the couple things my mom or dad asked and went back to picking at her food. I noticed she was really polite and attentive. Does she know how cute she is? I learned a couple things about her thanks to my parent's interrogations. She is 18 years old, She has an older brother, and her mother passed when she was 15. She loves art, music and dancing. She stayed away from details, and would stay quiet if they asked something she didn't feel comfortable with. Like personal questions. Such as what her brother's name or age was, and what her relationship with her parents was like, or what it was that people feared in her. I want to interrupt them, because the questions are getting out of hand, and I notice the hurt in her eyes every time something too personal or about the rumors and her past shows up. But they keep on asking and I'm really wondering if I should just break the plate in the table.

"There is rumors that you killed your babysitter, a couple of days after your mothers death. Is it true?" My mom asked. I took a look at my baby girl, only to find some tears in her beautiful sapphire eyes. Okay... That's the line. Without thinking, I grabbed my now empty cup and slammed it on the table. The glass was on my left, and I had made sure it was far enough from my wife as to not hurt her. I didn't really care about the rest but I'm still thankful non of us were impacted by the shards.

"That's enough." I declared, once everyone's attention was on me. My tone a bit stronger and more demanding than I had intended, but it didn't matter. I only needed to get my princess out of here. I grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the room.
