As the night settled in, everyone gathered in the living room, the flickering firelight dancing in their eyes. The room was filled with familiar faces—people they had shared countless memories with. There was Declan, Andrew's childhood friend, and his wife, Maeve, both of whom had known Andrew long before he became Hozier. Then there was Sarah, Y/N's best friend from university, and her partner, Liam, who had become like family over the years.
Andrew sat beside Y/N on the couch, their fingers intertwined. His thumb brushed over her knuckles, a subtle gesture of reassurance. Y/N's heart was racing, a mixture of excitement and nerves. They had rehearsed how they would tell everyone, but now that the moment was here, she felt a bit overwhelmed.
"So," Declan said, leaning forward with a grin, "what's the big news you've been so secretive about? You two are acting like you've won the lottery."
Andrew chuckled, glancing at Y/N, who gave him a small nod. He took a deep breath, his hand squeezing hers a little tighter.
"Well," Andrew began, his deep voice carrying a hint of nervous excitement, "we did want to share something with all of you. Something... pretty big."
Maeve raised an eyebrow, her eyes darting between the two of them. "You're not moving to another remote cottage in the middle of nowhere, are you?" she teased, making everyone laugh.
"No," Y/N said, shaking her head with a smile. "Nothing like that."
Sarah, always perceptive, narrowed her eyes playfully. "Y/N, you're practically glowing. What's going on?"
Y/N felt her cheeks warm under the attention, but she took a steadying breath. "Well, we've been keeping a little secret," she said, her voice soft but steady. "And we thought it was finally time to share it with all of you."
Andrew looked at her, his eyes full of love and encouragement, and Y/N felt her nerves melt away. With a gentle smile, she placed her hand over her stomach, and Andrew's followed suit, his large hand covering hers protectively.
"We're having a baby," Y/N said, her voice full of emotion.
For a moment, the room was completely still, the announcement hanging in the air like a sweet melody. Then, all at once, their friends erupted into cheers and laughter, the air filling with joyful exclamations.
"Oh my God!" Sarah cried, leaping up from her seat to wrap Y/N in a tight hug. "I knew it! I had a feeling!"
Maeve and Declan were on their feet as well, congratulating Andrew with hearty backslaps and wide grins. Liam, always the calmest of the group, smiled warmly and offered his congratulations, his eyes twinkling with happiness.
"When did you find out?" Declan asked, his voice full of wonder as he looked between Y/N and Andrew.
"Just a few days ago," Andrew replied, his arm slipping around Y/N's waist, pulling her close. "We wanted to wait until we could tell you all in person."
"And you kept it a secret this whole time?" Maeve said, her eyes wide with disbelief. "I'm impressed!"
Y/N laughed, feeling lighter than she had in days. "It wasn't easy, believe me," she said, glancing up at Andrew. "But we wanted to share it with all of you together. You're our family."
The night continued with even more laughter and celebration. Glasses were filled and refilled, toasts were made, and stories were shared, all centered around the little life that would soon be joining their world. Andrew couldn't keep his hands off Y/N, his arm constantly around her shoulders, his hand resting on her knee, or his fingers intertwining with hers. Each touch was filled with love and a quiet promise of the future they were about to embark on together.
As the evening wound down, and the fire burned low, Y/N found herself standing by the window, looking out at the darkened countryside. She felt Andrew come up behind her, his arms wrapping around her waist, pulling her back against his chest.
"You okay, love?" he murmured, pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
"I'm more than okay," she whispered, leaning into him, feeling the steady beat of his heart against her back. "I'm happy."
He turned her in his arms, so they were facing each other, his hands moving to cradle her face. His eyes searched hers, full of love and tenderness. "Me too," he said softly, leaning down to capture her lips in a slow, sweet kiss.
When they finally pulled away, Y/N rested her forehead against his, her arms draped around his neck. "I can't wait to see what our future holds," she said, her voice filled with hope and love.
"Neither can I," Andrew replied, his voice deep and sincere. "Whatever it is, we'll face it together."
And as they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, with their friends' laughter still echoing softly in the background, they knew that whatever the future held, they were ready for it—together.
