The early morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft, golden hue over the bedroom. Y/N stirred under the covers, slowly waking from a deep sleep. She stretched, feeling the familiar warmth of Andrew beside her, his arm draped protectively around her waist. For a moment, everything was peaceful, a perfect start to the day.
But then, a sudden wave of nausea hit her, sharp and overwhelming. Her hand flew to her mouth as she scrambled out of bed, barely making it to the bathroom in time. She knelt by the toilet, her stomach churning, and braced herself as the nausea overtook her.
Andrew was awake the moment she left the bed, his senses finely attuned to her every movement. He followed her, concern etched on his face as he found her in the bathroom. Without a word, he knelt beside her, his hand rubbing soothing circles on her back.
"It's okay, love," he murmured, his voice a soft balm against the harshness of her discomfort. "I'm right here."
Y/N clung to his words, taking slow, deep breaths as the nausea began to subside. When she finally felt like she could move without the room spinning, she leaned back against the cool tiles, closing her eyes and letting out a shaky breath.
Andrew stayed close, his hand never leaving her back. He looked at her with such tenderness that it made her heart ache, even in the midst of her discomfort.
"Sorry," she whispered, feeling a bit embarrassed by the whole ordeal.
"Don't be," Andrew said gently, his thumb brushing across her cheek. "You don't have to apologize for anything, mo chroí."
She opened her eyes to meet his, finding only love and understanding in his gaze. It was moments like these that reminded her why she had fallen in love with him—his unwavering support, his ability to make her feel safe no matter what.
"Do you want to stay here a little longer, or try getting back to bed?" he asked, his voice low and comforting.
Y/N thought for a moment before nodding toward the bed. "I think I'm okay now. Just... need to lie down for a bit."
Andrew helped her to her feet, his arm securely around her waist as they walked back to the bedroom. He guided her to the bed, helping her settle against the pillows before he climbed in beside her, pulling the covers up over both of them.
She nestled into his side, her head resting on his chest as she listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It was calming, grounding her in the present moment.
"Thank you," she murmured, her fingers tracing small patterns on his chest. "For being here."
"Always," he replied, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I'm not going anywhere."
They lay there in comfortable silence for a while, the only sounds the soft rustling of the sheets and the occasional chirping of birds outside the window. Y/N could feel the tension slowly leaving her body, replaced by the warmth of Andrew's embrace.
After a while, Andrew spoke, his voice still soft but carrying a hint of playful concern. "Do you want me to make you some tea? Maybe try to eat something small?"
Y/N smiled at his thoughtfulness. "Tea sounds good," she agreed, though the thought of food still made her stomach turn.
He kissed her forehead before carefully slipping out of bed, tucking the blankets around her to keep her warm. As he moved toward the door, he glanced back at her, his smile full of love and reassurance.
"Be right back, love," he promised.
Y/N watched him go, her heart swelling with gratitude. Despite the morning sickness and the discomfort that came with it, she knew she was incredibly lucky to have him by her side.
A few minutes later, Andrew returned with a steaming cup of herbal tea. He set it on the nightstand before sitting beside her, brushing a stray hair from her face.
"Take it slow," he advised, handing her the cup. "Just a few sips."
She took the cup, inhaling the soothing aroma before taking a small sip. The warmth of the tea settled her stomach, easing the lingering unease.
Andrew watched her with those gentle eyes, his hand resting on her leg, a constant source of comfort. "How are you feeling now?" he asked, his voice low and full of concern.
"Better," she replied, setting the cup down and leaning back against the pillows. "Much better, thanks to you."
He smiled, leaning down to kiss her softly on the lips. "I'm glad," he whispered, his forehead resting against hers. "I just want to take care of you."
"You do," she assured him, her hand finding his. "You always do."
They stayed like that for a while, their hands intertwined, the world outside their little cocoon forgotten. Y/N knew that there would be more difficult mornings ahead, more moments where she would feel less than her best. But with Andrew beside her, she knew she could face anything.
In his arms, she felt strong, loved, and ready for whatever this journey would bring.
