Hours were passing, and waiting at the stop made the time drag even more. Eva was in a miserable state when she got off the last bus. She had reached the Black Forest. However, the Black Forest was fenced off, and there were renovations taking place inside. Approaching two men who seemed to be in charge and were talking amongst themselves, Eva asked excitedly:
-"What's going on here? Is the forest off-limits?"
The mustached, tall man furrowed his brow and replied:
-"No, a campsite is being set up. There will be a month-long camp here." He pointed to a woman and a man sitting at a nearby table and added:
-"If you want to register, you can give your name to them." Then he continued his conversation with his friend. Eva, after a dry thank you, ran towards the woman and man. They were arguing. At first, Eva calmly and quietly said:
-"Excuse me, can you help me?"
But they didn't hear her. Eva called out again. No one paid attention. They kept arguing loudly. Finally, Eva couldn't hold back and shouted:
-"Hey! I'm talking to you. This is urgent!"
The man and woman immediately stopped yelling and looked at Eva. After a small apology, the woman, embarrassed, said:
-"Sorry, ma'am. What did you want to say?"
Eva, rolling her eyes, replied:
-"I want to join the camp," she said, putting her hands on the table with a sulky expression. The man, leaning back in response to Eva's movement, said:
-"Sure. Can I have your first and last name?" He then looked down at the papers in his hand.
-"Eva Agatha Berry."
-"Your age and a phone number we can reach you at if necessary?"
-"Of course. I am eighteen, and my number is ..................."
-"Thank you, Miss Eva. The entrance fee, which includes all your needs and activities here, is 150 dollars. Additionally, our most luxurious tent, with the highest standards, costs 700 dollars. Most people prefer these tents."
Upon hearing this, Eva's eyes widened. She couldn't spend her money on such things.
-"I want the tent with the worst standards." She said abruptly. The man and woman looked at each other in surprise, and the woman, tucking her hair behind her ear, spoke up:
-"Alright. We have tents for 28 dollars. I assure you they are of the worst standards."
Without hesitation, Eva said:
-"I'll take the tent," and handed them 178 dollars from her bag. Then she asked:
-"When can I start staying in the tent?" Eva frowned. The man checked his register and said:
-"Tomorrow evening."
-"What do you mean, tomorrow evening! I paid and I want my tent now!" she said, slamming her hands on the table. But the man seemed to have run out of patience for Eva's anger:
-"Please calm down and lower your voice, Miss Eva. There's nothing we can do. All the tents will be set up tomorrow." He stood up. Eva stepped back and said:
-"Alright. Sorry," and walked away. She couldn't go home. As she wandered aimlessly, someone grabbed her arm. Eva turned around with a start. A girl about her age stood there, with long red hair tied up on top of her head. Eva quickly pulled her arm back and said:
-"Who are you? Leave me alone!" But the girl smiled and said:
-"I'm sorry. I overheard your conversation by accident while you were registering. I guess you don't have a place to stay. I didn't either. I've come from a faraway place. There's a small inn a little further ahead where I'll be staying. You can come with me. If you don't have any money, you can stay in the room I'm renting. But you'll have to sleep on the couch." She smiled even wider. At first, Eva hesitated, but then she smiled slightly and said:
-"Sure, that would be great. Thank you. By the way, my name is Eva." She extended her hand. As they shook hands, the girl said:
-"Amy Beatrice Dina." Then they headed towards the inn.
Walking along the empty road, a source of hope had appeared before her.
It seemed that life was like this. Flowers bloomed where you least expected them-
As evening fell, they were watching the outside through the window of the inn and chatting. Suddenly, a silence settled over them. No one was talking. Eva broke the silence by asking:
-"How old are you?" She turned her gaze to Amy. For some reason, Amy seemed surprised:
-"19, and you?"
-"18," Eva replied, and silence fell again. Eva was bored. Slowly, stars began to decorate the sky as the night enveloped the air. Eva stood up and moved towards her bag. She was curious if the small, talking ball was still there. She took the ball out of her bag. It was still there and intact. However, the ball had not escaped Amy's notice. She excitedly stood up and took out an identical ball from her bag, joining Eva. Eva was astonished.
Did Amy also have a ball sent from the Kingdom of Preven? Did she also have special powers? If so, what were they?
