"You're welcome." Xiang Lin sat down in his tent. "It was so cold last night, did you catch a cold?"
Yu Ning: "No, it's not very cold."
Xiang Lin was a little surprised. "The heating pipes froze and cracked last night, and there was no heating at all in the second half of the night. Aren't you cold?"
"Really? Maybe I was asleep and didn't notice it." Yu Ning added, "It was really cold when I woke up this morning."
Xiang Lin: "I didn't expect you to be so strong."
Yu Ning: "The air here is good, it can make people forget the cold."
Xiang Lin smiled: "So you like the air here too?"
"It's not just the air, everything here is hard to come by after staying in the city for so long."
"Many students cannot accept the difficult environment, and many give up the opportunities they finally get after just one day."
Yu Ning: "But I like it here."
It doesn't matter the environment, it only matters the scenery.
Xiang Lin looked at him, "Me too."
"Senior, I'm curious, what kind of students can participate in this sketching?"
"Usually only the professors' favorite students have this opportunity. But you are the most special. You received an invitation before you even entered college."
Yu Ning was full of expectation, "Do you think I have a chance to be admitted?"
Xiang Lin was stunned. "You want a recommendation?"
Yu Ning nodded, "Yeah."
"Don't you know that the Academy of Fine Arts cancelled the recommendation of students four years ago?"
"I know, but I still want to try."
Xiang Lin: "Why do you insist on taking this risk?"
Yu Ning: "I can't take the college entrance examination."
"Why..." The topic had already touched upon privacy, so Xiang Lin stopped talking in time, "Okay, I wish you success."
"Thank you, Senior."
Xiang Lin took out his drawing board and pointed to the mountainside, "The sun is about to rise."
Yu Ning turned his head and focused all his attention on the sunrise and the drawing board.
The sun rose very quickly, leaving them very little time to paint. When the sun completely emerged from the top of the mountain, Yu Ning finished the finishing touches.
He looked at Xiang Lin's drawing board. There was only a draft without any color.
"Are you going back to paint?"
Xiang Lin pointed to his forehead and said, "Carve the outline on the drawing board, remember the most beautiful colors with your eyes and brain, and slowly paint them for the rest of your life."
The familiar description evoked Yu Ning's memory.
He looked at the signature in the lower right corner of the drawing board.
【X. Lin】
Yu Ning: "You, you are Mr. X?"
Xiang Lin: "Do you know me?"
Yu Ning couldn't hide his excitement, "You studied in the UK and updated your paintings and daily life at NTO."
Xiang Lin smiled and said, "Yes, it's me."
NTO is a social platform for painting enthusiasts with a huge user base all over the world. Yu Ning came into contact with it when he was fourteen years old.
Among the many registered users, Yu Ning's favorite is Mr. X. He never shows his face, often uploads his course works, and occasionally shares his study abroad life.
X. Lin's painting style is clean and simple, and the daily life he shares is comfortable and warm.
Yu Ning: "I am your fan."
But about a year ago, Mr. X disappeared from the face of the earth, and Mr. X. Lin's account was no longer logged in, and all content stopped updating.
Xiang Lin asked: "Who are you as a fan?"
Yu Ning shook his head. "We didn't interact. You probably don't know me."
"Really? Then when I suddenly disappeared, did you ever think that I might be in danger, or did you ever feel the urge to call the police to look for me?"
Yu Ning: "We have never met before. It would be too abrupt to do that."
Xiang Lin smiled and said, "I'm just kidding. I was just thinking that if you had found me back then, maybe we could have met earlier."
"It's not too late now." Yu Ning's lips gleamed with sunshine. "Why did you suddenly stop updating? Did something happen?"
"Well, I had some unpleasant experiences with the British school, so I left in a hurry. I wanted to return to my country to start a new life."
"No wonder." Yu Ning didn't ask too much about privacy, "But I'm also very happy to meet you in China."
Xiang Lin: "I am also very happy to be in..."
The cell phone in Yu Ning's pocket was vibrating.
Someone I like: "I'm home."
Ji Nanfeng sent a message two hours ago.
Someone I like: “I’m leaving.”
"Well, remember to hand in the homework tonight."
After seeing him finish replying to the text message, Xiang Lin said, "By the way. The heating pipes are still under repair. It will be even colder tonight. I have an electric heater over there. Why don't you move next door and live with us?"
"Besides me, there are two other people in the dormitory. They don't snore when they sleep and have good living habits."
Yu Ning was held in Ji Nanfeng's arms the whole night last night, so he didn't feel cold. But tonight he was the only one left in the dormitory, and there was no heating, which was simply adding insult to injury.
Seeing that he was hesitant, Xiang Lin said, "We can discuss the work in the evening, or talk about my life in the UK, how about that?"
From any perspective, moving next door is the best choice. Yu Ning took back his phone, "Thank you for your concern, but I'm sorry, I'm still used to living alone."
He promised Ji Nanfeng that he would not go there, so he definitely would not go there.
Xiang Lin shrugged, "Okay, keep warm and come over anytime if you feel cold."
"Yes, thank you."
After the sketching was over for the day, Yu Ning did not rush back. Instead, he went to the store and bought some hot water belts and heating pads, as well as a bed quilt.
It was 7:30 in the evening. There were no street lights on the narrow village roads, and the howling of wild animals could be heard in the bushes. Yu Ning hugged his bedding tightly and quickened his pace.
He went up to the second floor and heard laughter coming from the dormitory next door. Except for his room, all the lights were on.
Yu Ning turned his hand, looked at the dim glass window, and turned the key.
Maybe because he was wearing enough clothes, the dormitory was not as cold as expected. Yu Ning put his things on the ground and groped for a light in the dark.
The warm yellow light bulb lit up, and Yu Ning stood still in front of him, unable to look away.
Ji Nanfeng was naked. He lay on the bed with his chin propped up, upper body naked, "Master, I have already warmed the bed, why did you come just now?"
