The beast stood in front of Thorax reaching the heavens with its size. Claws as sharp as razors, teeth as large as his sword, skin as tough as the strongest elements and with wings capable of causing hurricanes.  He alone was sent to slay this beast. He charged the beast, but he was simply too slow as a swing of its claws sent him flying. He stood in the air looking at this vile beast it was strong, and it knew it was. His armour broken from its single swing, but he feared no beast as he is Thorax the Knight of Death.

He prepared to charge the beast as it prepared for his attack. With a mighty scream his wings shook the air as they pushed him forward. He was ready to slay this beast. The beast let out a mighty roar raising its claws to crush him when it gets a hold of him. Dodging its attack, he swung his sword and the impact to its skull shook the beast. Paralyzed from the blow he rushed it, and the heart was what he wanted. Rushing to its chest to pierce its heart. It out of nowhere moved its mouth at speeds it wasn’t merely pretending to be paralyzed he realized his mistake, but it was too late and down he went into the stomach of the beast. Thorax has fallen the beast was simply too strong.

The king awaited the return of Thorax but alas it didn’t seem he was going to return. The kingdom grew worried as the beast may have claimed the life of its strongest knight. “Call the knights” the king said to his right-hand man. The knights aligned the king told them he feared Thorax has been slain. Their mission was to find Thorax or what was left of him. The knight rushed to the stables grabbing their trusty steads and through the air they moved in search of Thorax.

The beast was last seen at the very edge of the kingdom. Feeding on the defenceless people who can’t afford to live in the walls. Thorax was a faithful man, and he believed every soul is worth protecting unlike the king who shunned those who were not lucky enough to have a life as soft as those in the walls. Thorax risked his life countless times for this people and sadly this time he wasn’t as lucky as always and fell in battle. The knights arrived in the area it was simply gone nothing left but ruins. So much death in the area, so much destruction, so much pain.

Thorax was nowhere to be found only he’s wings laid in the area. The knights surrounded the wings they laid their swords down and wished fair well to the greatest of them all. They carried his wings to the kingdom. “My king, Thorax has fallen” he said, “We will lay him down where he wished to rest.” the knights prepared to cut the barrier keeping Thorax’s soul on this mortal realm free his wings to ascend into the heavens. “No!!” the king said, “Go down to the dungeons and get one of the captives. We will rid their soul for his.” The knights shocked, “Sire he disclosed that he didn’t want to be revived once he fell. We must respect his wishes.” Maldon The Knight of Life said, “He wouldn’t want us to bring him back once he fell.”

The king furious walked towards Maldon “You dare question my judgement?” the king said with fury, “My liege please we can no….” Maldon said as the king slashed his head off. The king looked at the other knights to see if any doubted his word, but it seemed killing Maldon insured none shall question him. The captive was brought to the king he was forced on his knees and knew this was the end of his life.

Even though he knew it was his end he didn’t know how he will die. The king said to him that he was chosen as the new vessel for the soul of Thorax. The captive was from a nation that fell for resisting its capture. He didn’t believe a soldier as strong as Thorax has fallen, “Thor… Thorax was slain? That man, no, beast single handedly killed an army of thousands. He alone destroyed my nation.” he denied being his new vessel as a beast as strong as him deserves to remain dead.

The king annoyed showed he wasn’t asking he was telling him that he was the sacrifice. The wings were placed at the back of the captive and attached to him. He screamed from pain as life slowly drained from his body as it was replaced by that of Thorax. The body of the captive fell to the ground and Thorax’s wings flapped unnaturally. The body was taken to Thorax’s room and laid to rest as they awaited his return. After a few days the body morphed to the soul of Thorax he awakened and didn’t know how it was possible. “I’m alive?! How?” he said to himself.

He stood up and looked at himself in the mirror, not a scratch on him. He was as good as new. He couldn’t believe he was ok. “Was it just a dream?” he asked himself while admiring his body. He stopped and stared at his body he didn’t understand what he was staring at, it was a birthmark. He only had one birthmark on the back of his neck. But this one was on his lower stomach. He realized that this body wasn’t his and has been revived by his own kingdom who promised to let him die in piece.

Furious he rushed to the throne room. “Ah my son you have risen once more” the king said happily. “Once more?” he said “You betrayed my trust, you brought me back even when you knew I didn’t want to come back” the king’s mood heavied “You are the greatest warrior to ever exist. I am your king, and you will do what I asked” he said, “you dared to question my judgement and for that you deserve death but you. You will kill everyone in that village that you love so much as punishment.” Thorax didn’t believe what the king asked him to do but he dared not to speak back he had to do this vile task.
