So today at school I got sent to isolation. I did nothing wrong, except for not unrolling my skirt. Personally, my Ma is fine with me rolling it up, because there is no way i'm having it at normal length. It was quite cute really because Theo was with me and sticking up for me too. Anyways, I'm walking home from the bus stop, I'm dreading this.

A wave of relief feels me as I come across our door being locked. However, this could only mean two things. Ella is home alone, or I'm going to be home alone. Either is good to be honest. "Hello?" I say loud enough, not getting any reply. I quite enjoy being home alone, it means I actually get to enjoy the snacks without my Ma shouting in my ear to eat healthy.

I dump my bag down on the kitchen table, and open the fridge to find a left over Nando's. I don't even care whose it is, I'm in such a bad mood from being in isolation all day that I'm just going to eat it. I pop it in the air fryer for 5 minutes and scroll through TikTok. Me and Ella were speaking the other day about how we should go live together soon, which I personally think is an amazing idea. My Ma still hasn't messaged me when she's coming home, nor Caitlin, nor Ella, which is weird. One of them normally does by now.

I finish eating and put my plate into the dishwasher, as I'm walking into the living room, I hear the door open. In my mind, I'm secretly hoping it's Ella coming home from either the gym or work, not my Ma and Caitlin. However, my dreams have been cut short as I can hear my mums full Irish accent coming in loud. "Why the hell did you have isolation today Ava McCabe??" My Ma shouts, she never usually calls me by my full name, so I know that I'm in trouble.

"Woah, calm down Ma" I laugh "Anyways it wasn't even my fault, I had my skirt rolled and they obviously didn't like it" I told her, explaining the truth. Her facial expressions were in the air, I couldn't tell now whether she was angry or calm. So I decided to ask, me being me. "So? Are you going to say something or just stand there staring at me?" I ask her, and I hear a slight giggle which I suppose is coming from Caitlin.
