"This is speaking."
'This is thoughts.'

Her head fell forward but suddenly jolted back up as her eyes flew open, staring into the fields before her. A cold fog covered the land, small droplets of rain hanging on the tips of leaves falling off when a breeze passed by, the sky a grey colour as the clouds hid the sun behind them. [Name] rubbed her eyes before looking next to her at the cart. She let out a shaky breath as she realised the little girl wasn't in the cart.

'Where...'

She quickly stood up, ignoring the fact that she nearly slipped over in the muddy ground and pulled her boots through the mud as she took a couple of steps forward. Her eyes frantically tried to see through the fog. She held her breath as she heard a giggle coming from the other side of the tree. She stomped through the mud, stopping for a moment when her shoe got stuck, and peered around the tree. She let out a quiet sigh when she saw Morgan crouched down near a muddy puddle playing with her doll. Her giggles rang out through the cool air as she dipped the doll into the brown water as if it were a swimming pool.

[Name] scratched her neck as she looked around them before looking down at Morgan whilst picking at the skin around her thumb.

"Hey..." [name] grumbled out whilst wiping her dripping nose, "You hungry?"

Morgan whipped her head around and gave a wide smile to the older girl.

"Mhm!" The little girl hummed about whilst nodding her head quickly.

[Name] nodded her head back and walked back to the other side of the tree towards the cart, Morgan following behind her. She reached towards the plastic bag and pulled out a random bag full of sweets. She looked at the bag before turning the bag to face Morgan. Morgan looked at it for a second before coming to stand next to [Name] in front of the cart. The little girl peered into the plastic bag and rummaged around before pulling out a different bag of sweets. She pulled the edges of the bag and grunted as she tried to open it but let out a frustrated sigh when she failed. Morgan turned towards [Name] who was busy staring at the package that was in her own hand.

"Help... please?" Morgan asked, staring at the side of [name]'s face.

[Name] whipped her head around to face Morgan as she carelessly chucked the bag she was holding back into the cart without looking. She held her hand out and waited for the little girl to give her the sweets. [Name] grunted as she struggled to open the packet but let out a sigh when the bag finally burst open. Morgan let out a small cheer, dug her hand into the bag and stuffed a few sweets into her mouth.

[Name] turned away from the young girl and looked down at the cart's wheels. They looked like they had sunk further into the mud. She knelt down to pick up the handle and took a couple of steps back as she began to pull. Slowly, the cart began to move through the mud. [Name] faced forward and held her hands behind her back to grab back onto the handle. She started toward and scrunched her face as she pulled, Morgan slowly walking behind her whilst eating from the bag of sweets. As they got further away from the tree and more into the fog, the cart left a trail behind them as it was tugged along.

Soon enough, the field came to an end and, thankfully, a road appeared. [Name] paused for a moment, let go of the handle and put her hands on her knees as she leaned forward. Small trickles of sweat dripped from her forehead, her cheeks were red and huffs of air slowly left her mouth in a white puff in front of her. [Name] slowly leaned back up and looked around. It looked as if the road went in a straight line, with lights lining the edge and a small concrete path with cracks in it and weeds growing tall following the road.

"Can I get back in?" Morgan's excited voice rang out.

[Name] slowly turned towards the little girl and nodded her head, tired and worn out, but determined to go on. Morgan played her doll gently into the cart and jumped a few times before leaping onto the edge of it. She wiggled a bit as she struggled to get in and let out a grunt as she looked over at ]Name] for help. [Name] stood and watched Morgan, slightly amused with a small smile on her face. She trudged towards Morgan, grabbed onto the young girl's legs and flipped her into the cart. She let out a short snort of laughter when Morgan let out a squeak of surprise after flipping over onto her back.

[Name] picked the handle up off of the floor and pulled the cart towards the side of the road and onto the bumpy path. She shook her head and sighed as Morgan started to quietly complain to her doll about how she didn't like the bumpy path. As she walked along the path, she looked at her surroundings. Tall trees surrounded the road and created big shadows that made [Name] shiver slightly from the cool breeze that rushed down the road. She walked past a dirt trail that went into the woods, a rusty orange truck was parked near the entrance but nobody was inside of it. She thought back to the dead man that the two girls had left on the side of the road. She bit her lip and quickly sped up to walk past it before sewing back down to a normal pace. Morgan said nothing as she continued to play with her doll. [Name] lifted her free hand and touched her cheek, small crusted dots of blood were still there, some had been washed off by the rain. She scratched gently to get rid of the last bits and blew her fingers to get the crusted blood off of her fingers.

She heard a rustle as Morgan opened another bag of sweets. She continued to look ahead but held her hand out behind her, silently asking for some of the sweets. She pulled her hand back as a small hand put a handful of sticky sweets in her palm. [Name] looked at them, sniffed them then tipped her head back as she stuffed them all into her mouth.

Further down the road, lights appeared, it was another small town. Suddenly, thunder rumbled in the sky and droplets of rain began to fall. [Name] groaned and rolled her eyes at the realisation that there was going to be even more rain. She continued, getting closer to the town ahead as the rain started to get heavier.
