Chapter One: A Guardian in the Making

~¤•○•¤~

Jack Frost, the Guardian of Fun had been wandering for days now, and he eventually found himself in a town near the lake where everything began for him. It's been a while since he'd been there. Over time, he noticed the town had grown big, the village was replaced by modern-looking houses, some trees were cut down, some were planted. Although there were a lot of differences to take in, the place still gave him the same feeling. It was almost sundown, and it was raining when he noticed a new face he'd never seen before. A woman, sitting on one of the benches. Her icy-white hair and pale skin are too noticeable from the distance. She seemed to be looking down at the ground.

What is she doing?

"And who might you be?"

He walked up towards her, dragging his staff across the rocky road until he was a few feet away from her. He got to take a clear glimpse of her and realizes, she was quite young and..she was crying? The girl noticed him, but paid attention. She kept crying to herself.

He was a little surprised to see a grown woman crying in the rain, but did she or did she not acknowledge his presence at all? Did she even know he was there? He rolled his eyes upon realization. Apparently, not all people can instantly see him, unless they believe in Jack Frost, which is actually easy for him now to be honest. But he was firm they locked eyes for a moment there, so he tried his luck again and tried to ask her. "Hey... you okay?"

The girl met his eyes once again, and was she just so enthralling. Even through her tears, her crystalline eyes shone through. It immediately showed confusion, and then as she had come into realization, she answered with another question. "Can you see me?"

He raised an eyebrow back at her all puzzled, looking her over. She was... quite pretty.

"Yeah, of course I can see you." He said, raising an eyebrow as her reaction was a bit strange. Was that unusual for people to see her? Was that the cause of her tears?

Unexpectedly, she cried harder. "The world must be toying with me!"

He was surprised by her reaction, not having expected that response at all. "Hey woah! Hey, hey, hey now." he said, quickly coming to her and trying to calm her down.

"I don't.. Wait, what do you mean? Did someone hurt you?" He asked, concern now flooding his voice.

"Everything's just so confusing. I didn't know where I came from. And these people, they don't even see me. I tried talking to them, asking for directions, but it's as if I'm talking to a ghost. I didn't know what to do. It's so overwhelming!"

He felt his heart clench hearing her talk. No one else could see her? That's what she was upset about?

He was quiet for a minute as he tried to process that and come to a conclusion on her situation. But, she was still crying.

He gently placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to soothe her as much as possible. "Hey... hey it's alright.. I promise you I can see you, okay? I can hear you... You're not going crazy."

Her features soften, which made way to show off just how angelic she actually looked like. "But why can't they?"

He looked her over as she calmed down a bit more, trying (and failing) not to stare at her. She was beautiful. Surprisingly beautiful. He couldn't imagine how she managed to go unnoticed. She was stunning.

But still, he couldn't get over the fact she mentioned no one could see her. There must be something going on here. Noticing his silence, she continued. "Who are you, by the way?"
