"Let's go everyone! We don't wanna get there too late in the evening!" Hero yelled to everyone. They all where going camping at a camp that Kel and Hero's family had rented for the week. Sunny, Kel, Basil, Hero, Aubrey, and Kim all decided to take a trip together.
Sunny had asked his Mom if he could go, and she was overjoyed to know that he still had friends he liked. Of course she was still a bit upset with Basil after what had happened, but she saw that Sunny still enjoyed being his friend so she let it slide that time.
"Com'on, Sunny! We can sit in the way back so then we have more room!" Kel suggested. Sunny nodded and grabbed his black backpack. They all got in the car, Kel and Sunny in the way back, Kim and Aubrey in the back, Basil in the passenger's, and Hero driving.
"Everyone buckled and set?" Hero asked, turning his head to see everyone. They all confirmed and Hero started up the car.
"Okay, Sunny! What do you want to do?" Kel looked at Sunny who said nothing and just stared at him. Sunny still wasn't much of a talker, he just kind of let things happen as he always did. Except Sunny had so many things he wanted to do, but decided not to say anything.
In all honesty, Sunny wanted to hold Kel's hand at that moment. Sunny glanced at Kel's hand, seeing if he would take the hint. Kel tilted his head in confusion. Sunny glanced at Kel's hand again and then at his own. Then he started fiddling with his hands.
"Uh... Sunny?" Kel had a feeling he knew what he wanted, but wasn't quite sure. "I have a few ideas if you don't have any!" Sunny felt his stomach drop. Nevertheless, he nodded at Kel's suggestion.
"Okay, well, I have some paper so we could play something... or we could do an art contest! Maybe the others could join!" Kel started to get excited, "What do you think, Sunny?" Sunny liked the idea so he nodded again, now slightly smiling. His happiness made Kel's heart flutter. "O-okay! Hey! Aubrey! Kim! Basil!"
"What?" Aubrey asked harshly. Kim was hugging Aubrey's arm and had her head on her shoulder, Aubrey hated that Kel had ruined their moment.
"Want to have an art competition?" Kel asked, "Someone'll have to be the judge, though..."
"Yeah! I'll join!" Basil said.
"Great! How about you two?" Kel looked down at the two girlfriends.
"Sure, I'll be the judge," Kim said, still hugging Aubrey's arm.
"If Kim's joining, I'll join too. Give me some paper," Aubrey said. Kel handed everyone paper and pencils and they all started drawing.
[Time Skip: Everyone's Finished]
Sunny drew a very nicely drawn black cat, Kim had given it an 8/10. Basil drew a very detailed rose, Kim also gave it an 8/10. Kel had drawn himself as a stick figure playing basketball, Kim gave it a -10/10. Aubrey drew a bunny eating a carrot, Kim gave it a 100/10.
"That's not fair! My drawing is amazing! and Sunny's cat is so much better than that bunny!" Kel complained.
"Fine, Sunny and Basil get a 10/10, Aubrey gets a 1,000/10, and you get -300/10!" Kim said. Kel wanted to argue but knew it would just blossom chaos.
"It's alright, Kel! It was just for fun, right?" Basil gave him a warm smile.
"I guess..." Kel fell back in his seat. He felt a tap on his shoulder.
"I think... your drawing was very good," Sunny complemented. Kel felt his face warm up.
"U-uh, thanks, Sunny! Your drawing was very good, too!" Kel smiled. Sunny loved Kel's smile. It lit up the whole room. When he smiled, all Sunny wanted to do was kiss him- no, stop. that will never happen. Sunny knew that.
"Thank you..." Sunny signed, turning his head away. He couldn't look at Kel any longer or he might've lost his mind!
Kel was disappointed that he couldn't see Sunny's face anymore. He loved the color of Sunny's eye and his soft lips and just anything about him, really.
Kel looked down at Sunny's hand. He remembered how Sunny had glanced at his and his own hand at the beginning of the trip and how he fiddled with it as if he wanted something. Kel looked at his own hands. Then he looked up at Sunny. He was still looking away. He looked back down at the other's hand. Kel reached his hand out but then quickly drew it back. He sighed.
Sunny sensed Kel reaching for him and felt his face heat up. His stomach dropped again when he felt Kel draw away. Sunny couldn't take it anymore. He turned to Kel and gave him an intense stare, immediately regretting his decision to even look at him.
"Is there something wrong, Sunny?" Kel asked. Sunny nodded hesitantly, his face on fire. "Oh? What's wrong?"
"M-My hand is cold," Sunny muttered quietly, but loud enough for only Kel to hear.
"Oh! Do you need a blanket or-"
"I need another hand," Sunny replied quickly, his heart beating so fast, it seemed it would fly out of his chest. Kel started blushing as well. He looked at his hand and then at Sunny's. He smiled and happily took his hand.
"Better?" Kel asked. Sunny nodded, his heart beating even faster somehow. He looked down at their interlocked hands and smiled a big, real smile. He looked up at Kel. Now Kel's heart was beating out of his chest. Sunny's smile was so beautiful.
"H-hey Sunny?" Kel asked, "Maybe my lips are cold."
Sunny, in shock, hid his tomato red face in his knees. With his free arm, he wrapped his arm around his legs, but still held tight to Kel's hand. Kel also turned into a tomato, in shock of his own words.
Luckily, both Aubrey and Kim had fallen asleep, so neither of them could tease Kel about what had happened. Hero was to focused on driving to hear, so the only one who heard was Basil.
"The ship has finally sailed!" Basil sighed happily to himself.
