"It was the night of our lives. We were at a large gathering, yet i knew most people there, and they were fairly non-judgemental. So we were drinking and having fun."

"Get my girl anything she wants." Klaus said, in front of the counter.

"Woohooo."

"And another round for everyone, on my boyfriend!"

Klaus gave Lilac a look of disapproval, which she couldn't help but giggle at. I mean, come on, he had the money.

"But then the whole place went to shit. Wooden bullets thrown everywhere, I had to hide you under a table to make sure you're safe. I lost my siblings somewhere in the crowd. That's when I realised just how unsafe it was for you to be with me. So I sent you off, told you to live with this woman, and compelled her to take excellent care of you."

"Nik, I'm fine, let's just go home."

"No, come with me." Klaus says, grabbing her hand.

"Where do you want to go. Anywhere, right now, where do you want us to be together, and where do you want to live for the rest of your life."

"Charleston in South Carolina. It's meant to be the most beautiful place in America."

"It will be now that you're there."

They spent the whole evening together, yet when it was midnight...

"Let's go find you a place to live."

"You mean us, right?" Lilac said a little frightened but still calm.

Klaus just looked into her eyes.

"No, I don't. You're beautiful. You're strong. But I'm not going to put you in danger anymore. Your life is more important than our non-existent happy ending. So I'm gonna compell someone to take really good care of you. Find love again, be happy, whatever. But we can't be together."

The whole time Klaus said this, he fought the urge for tears. Knowing it would just make this harder. Lilac, on the other hand, had lines of where the tears were begging to stain her face.

"What. No." She said, hugging onto Klaus for dear life, "You can't leave, I can't be without you."

Klaus did start to cry at this. He just couldn't stop himself.

"Please, Nik. I love you."

"I know, sweetheart, I love you too, which is what makes this so damn hard. But it's also why I have to do this. Come on."

Klaus said, walking her to the next high-end house they see.

Lilac knew not to fight back. It wouldn't change anything. He was clearly set in his decision.

"Hi. Your very distant cousin just died and has a daughter called Lilac Evergreen. You're now looking after her. Get her in a good school, and look after her your whole life. Let her know how much she's loved all the time, and make sure she eats as she should. Heres enough money for new clothes and belongings. I'm guessing you have a spare room so she can sleep in there, or you can share your bed. Goodbye."

Klaus wasn't going to make this any harder to part. They shared one kiss and while her eyes were closed...

"Hang on a second, earlier. You said you wouldn't let me die again. What happened?"

"My mother happened."
