Captain America and Master Roshi stood alone against the images of familiar faces, both friend and foe alike, all of them engaging with each other in a fight to the death. With holograms of the Punisher and Yamcha dead, and the image of Colonel Violet having already left, that left only nineteen fighters the students of Master Mutaito had to protect King Norman Osborn from. Sure, the Tinkerer was using the laser turrets to assist them, but both elders were doing everything they could to keep those of flesh and blood alive.
"Can these holograms get any more aggressive?" Asked the frustrated Roshi as he wacked Emperor Pilaf's mech away with his wooden staff.
"You got say this about Bulma's training regiment, she's definitely dedicated to becoming stronger." Captain America said as he punched the hologram of the Lizard away, who was still being strangled by the pint-sized hologram Krillin. Steve understood why Yajirobe, Korin, and Demon King Piccolo's son Tambourine were not among the holograms conjured since Rescue had not seen them in action, but he found it odd that he wasn't fighting against the technological specters of Goku/Venom, Launch/Pistole, Doctor Doom, Cello, and Drum. Perhaps Bulma didn't develop them for personal reasons or did not have the time to do so?
"Mr. Osborn! You should take this opportunity for you to escape! I will use the turrets to cover you! Leave everything to Steve, Roshi, and the Rhino!" The Thinkerer pleaded from the speakers as she used her blasters to break apart the grappling Tien and Mai who were a little too close to her new boss for her liking with the bolt hitting Grandpa Gohan in the back. Naturally, both the triclops and the servant of Emperor Pilaf morphed into their symbiotes Atlas and Vendetta to escalate their match. Phin didn't like the idea of getting fired for failing to protect the king of Earth. Who would be able to assist Ranfan financially if she was laid off?
"Leave? Why should I leave when everyone else is risking their lives? As a leader, I should stick by until the very end." Norman Osborn replied to his intern in a boisterous and stoic fashion. Of course, the Green Goblin was lying through his teeth. He just wanted to see Goku's friends get killed, for Captain America and Master Roshi to fall in a pool of their own filth and blood. Upon such a fate, Norman would naturally cut Phin's connection to the network, revert to his true form, and kill all the holograms. Gobby still needed the Rhino of course, he didn't put all that effort to make him his slave and pet for nothing.
"Cap, when do you want to do our old technique?" Master Roshi asked as he avoided a psychic attack from Hologram Chiaotzu, to which the beam hit the Hologram Ox King square in the face. The giant hologram dropped to his knees and cried out, being bombarded by extremely horrific images. Brie Larson as Chichi, Ben Stiller as Raditz, Danny Devito as King Kai, Freddy Prinze Jr. as Mr. Popo, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Nappa, Kevin Hart as Krillin, Joe Pesci as Vegeta, and Jared Leto as Goku. Finally, just before the Ox King's head exploded in a gory blue mess, the title of 'Dragon Ball Evolution 2: Sparking Leto' appeared, burning the poor hologram's eyes out.
"I suppose now is a good time as any." Captain America agreed, slightly unnerved by Chiaotzu's assault on the Ox King.
"I definitely concur. Gentlemen, get ready for this shared technique! Shell and Shield!" Master Roshi declared as the brother of Fortuneteller Baba tucked himself into the shell on his back, resembling his friend Turtle whenever he would hide. With no time to spare, Captain America kicked the shell, letting the old man bounce off the walls and enemies, doing major damage to whatever enemy he hit. Thanks to Roshi's ability to sense energy, the Turtle Hermit would raise his ki whenever he was about to smack against an enemy and lower it when he would hit a wall just so he would bounce off and not crash through it. To follow up his friend's rapid ping pong attack, Captain America threw his shield to add another bouncing projectile to the mix.
