A few days later, when I arrive home,  I find Dave, Cass and Aaron here, visiting. I greet Dave, who slaps me on the shoulder. I greet Cass, then look around for Lex.

"Where's Lex?" I notice Ari is on the floor, bossily ordering Aaron to pick up the blocks he just knocked over and  Cass is holding Timmy.

"She had to use the bathroom," Cass replies, smiling fondly at Timmy.  Dave gives me a Look and I laugh.

"Aaron, no!" Ari shrieks.

"Aria, stop." I walk over to my daughter, who's staring up at me.

"Be polite," I tell her.

"Why?"

"Because it's rude to yell at your friends," I reply. Ari just continues staring at me.

"Yeah, Steve," Dave snaps playfully. "It's rude." I smirk, shaking my head. Lex comes in, moving straight to me, reaching out. Her eyes are red rimmed. She's been crying.

"You okay?" I ask, drawing Lex closer. She nods.

"Yeah." She pulls my head down, gently kissing me. I smile.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Dave protests. "We're sitting right here!" Lex laughs, reaching for my hand. I let her lead me to the couch. We sit down, Lex practically in my lap.

I'm eager to know what happened. Was Knox here again, riling Lex up, mentally? Probably. I stand back up, telling Dave and Cass we'll be back in a few minutes. Then I lead Lex upstairs to our bedroom.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"It's nothing, really," Lex says. She moves, pressing close to me. I wrap my arms around her.

"Knox was here, wasn't he." It's more of a statement than a question. Lex nods.

"He was," she answers. "But that's not why I was crying."

"No?" Lex's fingers graze my beard.

"I was just feeling sad that Timmy will never know his namesake," Lex whispers. I gently grasp her fingers in mine. Lex pulls my head down, gently kissing me. I kiss her back.

"I'm sorry," I murmur.

"It's okay," Lex murmurs. "I'll survive." I hold my wife for a few minutes.

"We will," I murmur. "Together." Lex smiles.

"Yes," she agrees. "We will."

Dave, Cass and Aaron stick around for dinner. We just decide to order in some pizza. Lex actually lets me hold Timmy some, too. I know how that sounds, but as I've mentioned earlier, Lex constantly has Timmy with her, rarely allowing anyone else, including me, to hold him.

"Timmy's so cute," Cass comments, watching me.

"Would you stop being so obvious?" Dave jokes. Cass just smirks, taking Dave's hand.

"Hey, you knew when I married you that I'd want kids," Cass says. Dave rolls his eyes, but he's smiling.

"Yes, dear," he teases and Cass laughs.

"But," Dave adds. "Aaron's just barely a year old."

"Doesn't mean we can't try," Cass says brightly. Dave just shakes his head.

"Timmy's my baby," Ari declares.

"I know, sweetie," Cass tells Ari. "I wouldn't take Timmy away from you. I just think he's cute." Ari nods.

"Okay."

I have Timmy lying on my legs, smiling fondly at him. Lex is eating her pizza, looking more like her usual self, occasionally reaching out to touch Timmy or myself. I put my lips close to her ear.

"I can't wait to get you alone," I growl softly. Lex grins, touching my cheek.

"You two are so disgustingly in love," Dave jokes. Lex laughs.

"Aren't we?" I take Lex's hand.

"Yes, we are," I agree.

"Yes," Lex agrees, giving my fingers a gentle squeeze.

I'm pressed up against Steve's body as we recline in our bed. Both kids are asleep (for now), and I ache to just savor this tender moment with my husband.

Steve rubs the small of my back, while I gently rub his shoulders.

"This is wonderful," I murmur drowsily.

"Yeah," Steve agrees, kissing my forehead. I chuckle.

"I'm really glad that Dave, Cass and were here today," I add.

"Me too." I shift, wrapping an arm around Steve's waist.

"You feeling okay?" Steve asks softly.

"Yeah."

"You were upset earlier," Steve adds.

"Only a little bit," I murmur.

"As much as I know you enjoy having Knox around," Steve continues. "Sometimes I think it does more harm than good."

"Oh, for pity's sake." I stare at Steve. "Must you start in on that crap again?"

"I'm sorry," Steve murmurs.

"I just wanna lay here with you and forget about all of that." Steve kisses my forehead.

"Understood."
