Exactly a month

As months passed, the La Squadra house became more lively than ever. You and Illuscio became absolute besties, much to everyone's jealousy. You two were always gossiping and bossing everyone around with your immense sass. Prosciutto became like a second older brother to you, much to Pesci's jealousy, but you both became friends as well, him seeing you as a younger sister.

You and Formaggio were partners in crime, always playing pranks on everyone and especially each other. You were always shipping sorbet and gelato until they finally caved in and got together. They were also your gossip buddies.

You and Melone, dearest Melone, had developed a...strange relationship. You knew he had a bit of feelings for you, much like everyone in La Squadra, but he made it obvious, though always kept you guessing if that was just simply his personality.

He would always cling to you, which you didn't particularly mind, but he never let you go when he did. He always wanted to be close to you, keeping your bodies no more than a centimeter away at all times. In all honesty, his behavior reminded you of when you first rescued your dogs, and how they would endlessly follow you no matter where you went, and would throw a fit if you left, which sometimes he did.

In all honesty, you didn't really hate his behavior. It even became a thing you anticipated whenever you came back, him always the first to greet you unless he had a mission.

And your dearest leader, Risotto. Ah, the ominous enigma that is Risotto Nero. You could never tell what he was thinking behind those dark, piercing eyes. Though, every time he glared at you, you couldn't help but blush in embarrassment. It was just something about his eyes...perhaps his black sclera, or red iris...whatever it was, his gaze made you weak.

He seemed to have taken note of that fact too, because he's been increasingly eyeing you lately, perhaps relishing the fact that you of all people crumble under his gaze. Maybe he likes it... Whatever the reason, he also seemed to have developed a soft spot for you, always letting you do what the others couldn't, and even letting you leave whenever you wanted.

Of course, your brother was as protective as ever, dragging you right back into the house whenever Risotto would let you leave, or completely ripping you away from Melone when he would try to snuggle up to you on the couch. You could tell he had changed though. Something about him was more...mature. He even took to visiting father more, which made the both of you happy.

Despite all the deep connections you've made thus far, a lingering reminder hung above your head at all times, its presence unwavering.

This was all still temporary.

Your heart hurt at that fact. What if one of them died when you left? How would they feel when you went to join some other group...permanently..what would even be the benefit or point of moving?

Of course, it hurt you to eventually leave your brother and all your besties, but you had kind of stuck with the foolish idea that maybe, just maybe, Polpo had forgotten about your stay with La Squadra.

Of course, this was never the case.

You were just called down to the meeting room by Risotto, who looked particularly disgruntled today. He broke some dismaying news as you sat down. "Polpo...wants to see you. I know what you don't want to think it's about, but it is unfortunately exactly that. He's giving you a month more of training with us before your...switch." He says, his piercing gaze especially weakening right now.

You began to sulk a bit, which caused him to chuckle. You shot your head up at the unfamiliar and almost foreign sound. Was he...actually laughing? You never thought you'd live to see the day. You thought his hardy expression prevented it, but here he was, chuckling as he stood and walked around the table towards you.

You stood up as well, expecting him to hand you something but instead, he gazed at you once again with the same eyes that always made you weak in the knees. This time you were certain it was on purpose. He leaned down, your faces a bit too close as he tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear. He caressed your cheek before smirking slightly, knowing the effect he was having on you.

"Hey now, don't make that face like you'll never see us again...maybe we'll meet again during a mission." He says as he puts a hand on your head before walking to the door, holding it open for you to leave first. You clasp your hands over your cheeks as the inevitable blush begins to tint them like never before.

He shakes his head in amusement as you walk out, him following suit. The whole gang sits in the living room, fighting for a place on the couch, only to be immediately kicked off by another fight. You loved walking in on their antics and especially participating, but seeing this just made you hurt more, knowing you wouldn't be seeing it again for a long, long time...

Risotto snapped his fingers, alerting them all instantly. He spoke in his usual stern, deep voice which startled you due to how soft he just spoke to you.

"Everyone, the time has come for dear  [Y/n] to part with us. She has exactly a month starting next week, and we've been instructed to train her rigorously in that month, so I expect you all on top of your game." He says, his face void of all emotion except for the slightest bit of sadness behind his eyes.

The group lets out loud, pained groans in protest. They immediately rush to you, begging you not to go, Melone a crying mess on the floor. Ghiaccio stays put, shocked at first, but he honestly isn't all too worried because of a little conversation you had a while ago.

A little after the argument you had with your brother on your first day, he came to your room, apologizing profusely as you too apologized. He stated that he saw your reasoning for wanting to betray the boss, but thought it wouldn't do any good to do so. You then told him about the suspicious man who you still kept seeing around that somehow knew you but only by last name.

Apparently, he was one of the higher ups that would sometimes go on missions for the big cheese himself. He then realized something that changed everything.

The boss went on a trip to Potenza around the same time of your mother's death, and came back only two days later. Your mind went nuts with theories.

Of course, no one had ever seen the boss, he was a stickler about his identity and such, but you vividly remember seeing a tall man with pink spotted hair in your home as he murdered your mother. After all, you were expertly hiding in one of your genius hiding spots, so he never saw you in order to kill you as well.

As you told your brother this, it was epiphany after epiphany. You then remember the most damning thing of all. You saw a floating, ghostly white robotic figure phasing through the walls of your home, seemingly searching for something as the boss dealt with your mother. It was moving at light speeds as well...

It hit you like a freight...that man mentioned his stand ability was exactly that. Holy shit. It was all coming together, and quicker than you could really grasp.

You told your brother that you were concrete in your choice to fully betray the boss. He sighs before respecting your decision and even joining you in becoming a traitor. You were ecstatic, but heavily nervous, despite not being able to do anything with your current power level.

The group wails as they take you into a group hug, Ghiaccio eventually joining. You almost tear up yourself, but maintain a stoic front.

As you go up to your room to pack what little stuff you had in the first place, Ghiaccio follows you.

"Hey...are you still...?" He doesn't even have to finish his sentence for you to know exactly what he's talking about. You turn around, a serious expression creasing your face. "Are you?" He shakes his head with a chuckle as he leans against the doorway. "Duh!" He says as he pushes up his glasses, smirking as if excited.

You huff slightly in amusement as you bring him into a tight hug, to his surprise. He pats your back as you stay like this for a moment. "Look...just don't get yourself killed...or even hurt. If I receive word that you're dead or gravely injured.. I'll...I'll kill you myself!" He says as he squeezes you to the point where you begin to think you might actually die...
