A magical spy

Now, figuring out that my entire existence was a lie, I can do nothing but wait, knowing everything is scripted or my actions scripted right now. Well, there's nothing I can do about it.

I sit there quietly, bored, as I bounce a red rubber ball against my ship, playing catch a few times. I sigh, holding the button before asking my boss something, "Hey Houston, when am I getting my first mission? It's getting boring up here," which is something I never thought I'd say in space.

Houston remarked annoyed, "What am I, your royal buffoon? Ugh! Can someone find a magician? So, Astro dude, stop complaining." And with a pop of the air, Houston falls off his chair, and I have to cover my mouth to stop myself from laughing.

I hear a voice from the other side of the radio, "I am down if you don't mind." I hear Houston get up from his chair, saying in remark, "Holy God! Wait, are you, Dan Rhodes? Famous YouTube magician. How did you get in here?" To which, I just hear Dan respond, "Magic."

I hear the excitement in my boss's voice, "That's so awesome. And illegal... but anyway, my higher-ups here at Rostar have some strict rules about who we send to space, so–" I hear Dan cut him off, "Don't worry, you don't need to send me anywhere." I hear my radio crackle the way it started. I ignore it though and continue to throw the ball and catch it once more.

With a puff of air, he appears behind me. I was still caught up in throwing my ball in boredom until he started to speak. "You–" the sudden noise made me scream, "WAHH!" But Dan continued on casually, "Must be Astrodude." I floated back over, almost in shock. "Wait, are you Dan Rhodes, famous YouTube–" I am cut off by him as he simply says, "Yes, yes I am. Now, pick a card," to which he holds out a deck of cards. I acknowledge his question with a quick nod. "Oh, okay... I'll, uh, pick this one!" I reached my hand out, grabbing one of the cards from his hands, and just like that, it's sucked out of my hands. "Ugh, god, I blew it!" I whined to myself.

Dan politely asked, "You sure? Because it's also possible that your card is going around the planet's orbit." I responded with a simple sigh, saying, "That's very unlikely. If an object moves too slowly through the planet's orbit, it will crash down into the planet, and if it goes too fast, it will fly off into space." Dan smiled as he responded back in a friendly and cheerful way, "But if it moves at the right speed," a card floats over to him as he flips it over and asked, "Is this your card?"

I excitedly said back, "Wow, that was amazing! It's... uh, not my card though, but the fact you're here is magic enough, so bravo." Dan shrugged calmly and spoke, "You win some, you lose some. See ya, Astrodude," to which I see him float down back to earth, at least that's what I think. I feel the air around me shake. As I turn and scream at the massive card behind me, Earth says, "Hey Mars, look at this." To which Mars comes over and looks in confusion, "Where did these cards come from?" Earth calmly said, "I don't know, but now that we found them," and they both exclaimed at the same time, "SPACE POKER!"

I floated back to my ship with enough excitement for the day and adrenaline in my system to kill a horse. Little to my awareness, Dan was floating behind the ship. Noticing I went in, he made himself go invisible, quickly slipping in the door. I swear I could hear two sets of footsteps, my own and another, but I chalk it up to just being my nerves.

I make my way over to the computer, to which she says a call was for him. Astro dude rolls his eyes, asking for the name of the person. A robotic tone answered, "Someone that just goes by 'V.'" Dan noticed the rigid shift in my posture. I quickly tried to shut off the computer so I can read the message on my own.

"Hey computer, can you check the work I have to do today, if I have any left?" "Right away, sir," she dryly remarked. I look around to see if everyone is gone, and I noticed the computer is off doing what it's supposed to. I open the computer quietly. Dan carefully makes his way over, doing his very best not to make any noise as he walks. He hears the recorded voice of someone, a person that he hasn't heard before. "Astrodude~! Where is our content?" The viewer nagged. I sighed quietly, "Listen, listen, okay? I don't know what to post. Everything's been pretty boring lately." The viewer nagged once more, "Come on, let's see the ship cameras. I'm sure we can find something interesting there. We can even help you start the video off."

I roll my eyes again, giving access to the ship's cameras. As I scan through the video, apparently my interaction with Dan Rhodes caught their eye. "You should totally post this; the way you scream is hilarious." "Oh, will you shut it," I grumbled, annoyed. I hear the other side laugh as they give me a few tips on how to edit. I do that on my computer, not knowing that anyone was there.

Dan watches as the revelation of being in a video and being scripted slowly plagues his mind. He steps back, snapping his fingers as a poof of air sends him back to the ground. Astro dude heard the sudden sound as he turns, the slight smoke clearing, knowing who was watching him. He just hopes he doesn't get told on. The computer comes back and says, "No work for the rest of the day; your schedule is clear." Astrodude then waits till night when he's alone to post the video to YouTube.
