Eashan’s stepmother sat by the window of her dimly lit room, the cool evening breeze doing little to calm the storm raging within her. Guilt weighed heavily on her chest, pressing harder with every passing moment. She had done so much to a little boy that now he is no more a human also, choosing to look away from the growing darkness in Eashan. But now, the consequences of her silence were staring her in the face. Avika was trapped, her life stolen, and it was Eashan’s doing. She had done so many bad things to Eashan and his mother she had to pay for it. She need to because it happened because of but Avika she is innocent girl who is paying just for nothing.
She couldn’t let it continue.
Her plan was simple, but the risks loomed large. Eashan wasn’t just clever—he was calculating and relentless. She had seen his wrath before, but this time, she would stand her ground.
First, she needed proof. Without it, her words would carry no weight. She had overheard him boasting about his crimes—the accident that had left Avika in this state, the lies he had spun to keep her dependent, and, most chilling of all, the death of his own brother. These were no accidents or moments of desperation; they were deliberate acts of a man consumed by obsession.
Her second step would be the hardest reaching Avika. She knew where the young woman was being kept, the medical facility that Eashan had carefully chosen to isolate her. It would be dangerous, but she had to find a way to speak to her, to help her remember the life that Eashan had stolen from her.
Finally, she would need help. A trusted friend, maybe even a lawyer—someone outside the family who could protect Avika and ensure that the truth came to light.
But Eashan was already suspicious. He had noticed her quiet defiance, her long hours alone, the phone calls she tried to keep brief. She felt his eyes on her, watching, waiting.
That evening, as she sifted through old photographs, hoping to find something that might jog Avika’s memory, the door slammed open.
Eashan stood in the doorway, his face a mask of fury. “So, this is your grand plan?” he sneered. “Turn Avika against me? Expose me? How naive of you, Mother.”
She stood, forcing herself to meet his cold, calculating gaze. “This madness has to stop, Eashan. You’ve already destroyed too many lives. Avika deserves to know the truth.”
He stepped closer, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. “The truth? Avika knows the truth I’ve given her. She’s mine now. You have no place in this.”
“She’s not yours!” she shot back, her voice trembling but steady. “You’ve manipulated her, taken away her freedom, her life! You can’t keep this up forever.”
Eashan’s lips curled into a sinister smile. “I don’t need forever. Just long enough to ensure she never questions me again. But you… you’ve become a problem.”
Before she could respond, he turned to the door, signaling. Two men appeared, their faces blank and obedient. “Pack her things,” Eashan ordered. “She’s leaving tonight.”
“What are you doing?” she demanded, her voice rising.
“Sending you back to the States,” he replied coolly. “Permanently. You’ve overstayed your welcome.”
The men began gathering her belongings, ignoring her protests. Eashan stepped back, watching as they escorted her to the waiting car. “Goodbye, Mother,” he said, his voice dripping with finality.
But as the car pulled away, her resolve remained unshaken. She might be leaving, but she wasn’t giving up. She would find a way to return.
Later that night, Eashan found Avika sitting by the window of the house he had made her prison. She looked out into the darkness, her expression blank but peaceful. At the sound of his footsteps, she turned to him, a soft smile gracing her lips.
“You’re back,” she said. “How was your day?”
“Better now that I’m with you,” he replied, his tone warm and possessive. He walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder. “How are you feeling?”
She hesitated, her fingers brushing the edge of the blanket draped over her lap. “I… I’m okay, I think. But sometimes, I feel like I’m missing something. Like… there’s a part of me that’s gone.”
He knelt in front of her, taking her hands in his. “That’s just the accident, my love. You’re still healing, and I’m here to help you every step of the way.”
Her brows furrowed slightly, confusion clouding her eyes. “Eashan, can you remind me again… how did we meet?”
His smile didn’t falter. If anything, it grew softer, more practiced. “Of course, darling. It was fate. You were in a terrible car accident, and I found you. I brought you to the hospital, stayed by your side through your recovery, and we fell in love. Now, we’re married, and I’ll always take care of you.”
She nodded slowly, though her expression remained uncertain. “Married…” she repeated, as if trying to convince herself.
“Yes,” he said firmly. “And I’ll protect you from anyone who tries to harm you. Forget the past, Avika. The only thing that matters is us.”
She smiled faintly, but a shadow of doubt lingered in her eyes.
As the plane carrying Eashan’s stepmother climbed into the night sky, she stared out at the endless expanse of stars. She couldn’t stop him today, but she wouldn’t stop trying. Avika deserved her life back, and the truth—no matter how deeply buried—would eventually come to light.
