"I have finished something that I'm very excited about sharing with my fans and the world." Taylor proudly said as she held you a little tighter. "But before I do that, I want you to hear it first."
You know she's been hard at work on finishing her version of Red.
The particular album had a huge influence on you and helped you through such a difficult time in your life and you've been so excited to hear her version of it.
She's shared some songs and snippets with you while working on the album but there's one thing she's kept as a surprise.
"I'm so excited to tell you that I put the ten-minute version of All Too Well on my version of Red."
She bit her lip and watched your eyes light up before an excited gasp left your lips.
"You're serious!?"
"I am!" She grinned. "And you, darling, are the first to hear it."
She turned around and pushed a few buttons before you heard the intro begin.
All too well has always been so incredibly special and important to you and you know her fans feel the same way.
It's so beautifully written and sung.
You can always hear the emotions in her voice and feel everything she went through as she opened up so vulnerably.
As you heard the first few words from the song, you were met with memories and flashbacks of how much comfort you've always found in her, long before you met and started dating.
Even though it had been so many years since the stolen version was released, her voice still sounded so beautiful and so familiar, so comforting.
You were so amazed by everything about the song; the lyrics, the genuineness in her voice, how beautifully she sang, and how she'd always been so honest and so incredible of a storyteller when it comes to her lyrics.
Taylor watched you as you soaked in each lyric.
She found herself smiling so happily when you gasped over her singing "fuck the patriarchy" and then felt her heart shatter when you teared up the more open she became.
"They say all's well that ends well but I'm in a new hell every time you double-cross my mind. You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would've been fine and that made me want to die."
Your heart sank as you heard her sing that.
To know how much pain and sadness she'd felt during that time in her life was devastating.
"The idea you had of me, who was she? A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you. Not weeping in a party bathroom, some actress asking me what happened, you. That's what happened: you."
You glanced at Taylor, staring right into those soft blue eyes while you let the lyrics sink in.
She's such a genuinely beautiful and incredible human being and you just hate the thought of her being so sad and knowing her heart had been hurt so badly.
"You, who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes. Sipping coffee like you're on a late-night show. But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come. And he said, "It's supposed to be fun... turning twenty-one."
You reached out to gently cup her cheek.
You know that time had healed her heart and that she's able to sing all too well comfortably.
Eventually, after her version of Red releases, she'll be able to sing this version proudly, too.
But you know, at one point, she'd been hurting and she's overcome so much since then.
"I'm proud of you." You whispered, still wanting to hear the song.
But you wanted her to know that you were truly proud of her.
Proud of how far she's come both as a longtime fan and as her girlfriend.
"Thank you." She whispered back to you, smiling softly as you put your forehead against hers.
"And I was never good at telling jokes but the punchline goes "I'll get older but your lovers stay my age".
You pulled your forehead away from hers and gazed at her with wide eyes as a smile pulled at her lips.
It was so clever and caught you by surprise and she loved your reaction to it.
The rest of the time, you were mesmerized by her voice and how beautiful the lyrics were.
And as it ended, as Taylor pressed the buttons again to make sure it didn't play from the start again, she turned to you with a big smile.
"Did you like it, baby?"
You put your arms around her and gave her a big hug.
"I do. I love it, Tay. You did an amazing job on this song, just like you always do. I'm so proud of you, darling. So proud."
"Thanks, my love."
"Your fans are going to be so excited and I just know they're going to love this so much."
"Yeah? As much as my number one fan?" She grinned as she pulled you closer, kissing the corners of your lips.
"Almost." You whispered. "No one can ever love this song as much as I do."
She grinned and gazed at you lovingly as you tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
You truly are her number one fan and biggest supporter in the world and she loves and appreciates you more than anything in the world; almost as much as you love and appreciate her.
