Not much is known of the origin of these peculiar beings.
Their kind is quite similar to vampires, but just like them, this wasn't always the case.
The ancestors of the Spider callers were a small tribe of "Nefastus Fetum", children between fallen angels & humans.
But unlike vampires, they didn't seem to have a special ability.
They were a nomadic tribe, who mostly keept to themselves.
After a few generations of wandering, they encountered something they didn't expect:
A spider demon, possibly created through a corrupted dark spirit, coming in contact with pure dark magic.
They decided not to avoid it, but instead sealed it away in one of their own.
& than something magnificent happened.
The Spider demon startet to drain it's host's darkness away.
Consuming it & thus leaving them pure like angles.
The "Spider curse" would be given to their children & grandchildren.
Manifesting as a spider-shaped, pitch black birth birthmark, on their backs.
It would start as a small dark shape between their shoulder blades & slowly expand across their backs, with every negative experience & emotion the host gained.
It would give them many different powers, some related to spiders & others to demons:
Speaking to & controlling spiders, walking on walls, spinning magic-enforced spiderwebs, growing every part of a spider out of their bodies (legs, mouth, armor plates) & even let swarms of dark spiders emerge from their skin, which they could control.
The bigger the Spider-mark on a Caller's back, the more powerful their abilities.
But their was a catch.
The bigger the Spider demon grew inside them, the "hungrier" it became.
In order to not be consumed by it's dark power, the host now had to feed it another way.
By consuming blood & soul of humans.
They would wrap their victims into their spider webs, like spiders wrap up insects & then drain them.
Only leaving a cocooned skeleton behind.
This could also be used as a shortcut to power for them.
By consuming corrupted human souls, their demon could grow faster & give them powers without them having to make any unpleasant experiences themselves.
But the Spider callers had no intention of growing their powers at this time.
They were living peaceful secluded lives & thus had no reasons to grow their demons.
One day however, a group of angry humans came to their peaceful valley.
Armed & fueled by fear, they slaughtered the Spider callers & burned down their village.
Only one little child, still almost a baby, survived the attack.
His mother hide him under the roots of a tree & as the fires had burned themselves out, the boy was unharmed.
Since he was immortal, he spent his time growing up alone under the tree stump for a while.
But loneliness started to take it's tall on the young child & as his loneliness grew, so did the demon within.
After a short while, he had taught himself how to sit & even control the little spiders, who would occasionally come into his little domain.
Almost a year past, before he had the strength to crawl out of his hiding place.
& as he did, he was greeted by a large tall figure.
A seemingly young woman, her dark cloak waving around her, as she levitated closely above the ground.
The sorceress would raise him & give him everything he would need, to become a valuable addition to her empires forces.
As he grew up, he would give himself a new name "Harakiri Kekai".
He would discover, that he could produce little spiders, that could move autonomous from him & fulfill a given task.
He send them out, into many civilizations across the multiverse, with one goal:
"Find those whose inner spirit resembles that of a spider & burry yourself deep within their body & soul."
This way, mere humans could be infected with the Spider-curse.
The little demons could absorb darkness from their body & soul, & transform them into Spider callers.
Once the process begins, their skin would secrete spider-silk, covering them in a cocoon.
Once their Transformation is over, a few hours later, they would emerge from their cocoon, by cutting their way out, with their new abilities.
Covered in quickly evaporating Slime, they step out into the world as spider callers.
