My breathing was heavy as I stared down at my bloodied hands, my eyes wide with panic at what I’d done. I, the hero’s sidekick, the beloved Ace in her deck, had killed someone in a fit of anger and envy. I didn’t know what to do, I was scared, what would happen to me if anyone found out. Tears began to well in my eyes at the thought of how Artemis (the hero) would react if she found out. Collapsing to my knees I stayed there silently weeping in fear and regret for my actions.
I’m not sure how long it had been until I felt a firm and cold hand on my shoulder. Looking up with tear-stained eyes I nearly jumped at the sight of the villain. “Relax, I’m going to help you.” she said calmly as she pulled me to my feet and led me to the sink. “Why are you helping me, you’re a villain, Brutus.” I was confused why a villain would help me, her enemy’s sidekick. “I’m helping so you don’t have to worry about Artemis finding out.” Brutus (the villain) whispered to me as she helped me wash the blood off my hands.
After she finished helping me, I couldn’t help but look down at the ground before muttering a soft “thank you”. She chuckled as she heard my thank you and told me it was no problem before giving me instructions on how to avoid suspicion. The instructions were basically this: She would take the weapon I had used and run off, when Artemis arrived, I would say that the villain had committed the crime, I’d say I tried to catch her to the best of my ability but she got away.
Nodding I couldn’t help but internally admire her planning skills, shaking my head to snap back I realized she’d disappeared. Knowing the hero would arrive soon I dried my hands thoroughly before pretending to look worn out from a ‘fight’.When Artemis arrived I stumbled over to her as she opened the door. Her eyes widened upon seeing me, “Aeon? What are you doing here! And what happened?!” she gasped helping me stay on my feet. “I was trying to catch Brutus after catching her attempting to flee, ended up in a fight, and kinda got my ass beat.” I explained letting out a shaky breath. Sighing she shook her head with a slight chuckle “At least you tried” she said with a fond smile.
