"We're almost there," Noah announces as we step onto Beach Street. The fresh saltwater air lightly caresses my face, the breeze gently dancing through my hair.
"Noah, this is stunning!" I exclaim, taking in Fisherman's Wharf ahead. The streets feel magical, brimming with old-world charm, local fishermen, delectable seafood, and iconic sea lions.
"Do you trust me?" he asks, his energy syncing with mine.
My eyes give Noah a once over and I soften, "Yes."
"Turn around, Miss Hart," he instructs with a straight face. I obey, feeling his hands slowly cover my eyes. They are masculine yet elegant, strong yet well-kept. A rush of heat surges through me as I realize how much I enjoy him taking charge.
Noah guides me forward, his breath on my neck and a hint of spearmint reaching me. "We're almost there," he whispers.
Turning another corner, I feel Noah's hands gently release from my eyes. "We're here."
I flutter my eyes open and instantly find myself in a vibrant world of color and creativity. Overhead, a brilliant display of colorful umbrellas and balloons are suspended in the air, creating a playful, dream-like atmosphere. Rich, multicolored murals and installations proudly stand before us.
"You said you liked collecting moments through photos. I thought Umbrella Alley might be a nice addition," Noah says gently.
My mouth sits agape as I take in the fantasy world surrounding me. "Noah," I start, turning to face him. "This is the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me. Thank you." Without hesitation, I jump into his arms, feeling his warmth envelop me as my body melts into his.
"I'm glad you like it," Noah sweetly shares, kissing the top of my head. "Ready to explore?"
"Yes, please!" I exclaim, linking my arm through his. Noah leads the way through Umbrella Alley, where we stop to admire imaginative installations and chat with locals. We snap the ultimate touristy photos in front of different murals — Noah captures me against the multi-colored butterfly mural and we take selfies by the "Greetings from San Francisco" postcard mural.
As we continue down the alley, we come upon another mural: a bright pink wall adorned with dozens of hearts in soft hues, cursive letters above spelling out "So this is love." Noah and I exchange a glance.
"Would you like us to take a photo of you two?" an elderly voice calls out. I look over to see an adorable couple in their 70s, the woman in a yellow sun hat beaming, gently nudging a man forward in khaki shorts and sneakers.
"That would be wonderful," Noah replies, handing his unlocked phone to the man. He steps back, warmly wrapping his arm around my waist.
"Well! Are you going to kiss the girl?" the elderly man jokes.
Noah and I burst into nervous laughter. "That's okay," I say, resting my hand on Noah's back as he holds me close.
"Oh, come on, you two! You're only young once. You'll wish you captured the moment! Trust us," the woman in the yellow hat encourages, hugging her companion.
Noah looks down at me, pausing. "Can I kiss you?" his gaze lingers on my lips and then meets my eyes.
My heart races. I would give anything for Noah to kiss me right now. Don't look at his mouth, Kingston. "Well, for the sake of collecting things I really like," I take a breath. "Yes - but just this once, until the contract is signed."
Without hesitation, Noah's passionate hand cradles my face as he draws me close, his lips warm and inviting against mine. Sparks ignite in my chest as our kiss deepens, his intoxicating scent and his touch both tender and assertive.
