Six Years Later

"Happy anniversary!" Charlie says as she enters the house. She and Ziggy live on the outskirts of town now, not in Shadyside or Sunnyvale. Just in between. They've been together ever since the Camp Nightwing Massacre, but they celebrate their anniversary six months after it. They can't bear to share a celebration on the same day as a tragedy.

"Happy anniver—— Oh my god!" Ziggy squeals as a poodle puppy runs into the house. Ziggy jumps up and takes the excited puppy into her arms, "Who is this?"

"Major Tom. I figured he could help," Charlie replies. Ziggy looks up at her with doe eyes. She's been struggling recently with the loss of her sister, Cindy. The older Berman sister couldn't handle the aftermath of the massacre, losing Tommy and Alice in one fell swoop.

"You're serious?" Ziggy asks, beginning to tear up. Charlie nods as the redhead approaches. She takes Ziggy into her arms as Major Tom jumps at their feet.

"What do you think?" She whispers as she rubs Ziggy's back.

"I love him. I love you," She pulls away and wipes her tears. She grabs Charlie's face, "Thank you, babe."

Charlie smiles and blushes just like she did when they first started dating.

"I'm glad you like him," She smiles. Ziggy nods and turns back to the couch where she was sitting.

"I got you this," Ziggy announces. She pulls out a box with a red bow on it. She hands it to her girlfriend who opens it and gasps.

"You didn't?" Charlie asks, tearing up now. Ziggy nods with a sly grin on her face as she gets down on one knee.

"Charlotte Goode, would you make me the happiest woman in the world and marry me?" She asks, taking Charlie's hand into her own.

Charlie nods, tears of happiness now streaming down her cheeks, "Yes! Of course, yes!"

Ziggy jumps up, grabs Charlie's face and kisses her like she did after they were free from the curse. Major Tom jumps at their legs as they release from their kiss.

"You... you know we can't actually... you know?" Charlie asks. Lesbians, in 1984? No way they were going to get a marriage license. Just not possible.

"I know. But I don't need a piece of paper to tell me that I wanna love you for the rest of my life," Ziggy states confidently, "We'll always be together."

Ziggy wipes away Charlie's tears with her thumbs. Charlie nods in response and they kiss again.

"Okay," Charlie sighs as they separate again, "I didn't buy anything for Major Tom yet. I figured we go together?"

"I would love to," Ziggy nods. She picks up Major Tom as Charlie grabs her car keys. They walk out of
their house to Charlie's car. They share since Ziggy isn't working at the moment. The loss of Cindy hit her hard and she ended up quitting her job for the time being. Charlie doesn't mind though, she's willing to work forever if it means that Ziggy is comfortable and happy.

They spend the evening picking out all the supplies they need for Major Tom. A collar, tag, and leash were the first supplies on their list along with food, food and water bowls, and a kennel. They also picked out a few chew toys and such for him to play with.

No one in town suspects a thing about Charlie and Ziggy. They were some of the few little survivors, so no one really bothered them. Charlie works in Sunnyvale at a local bank and no one brings up the massacre.

While Ziggy deals with the loss of her sister, Charlie deals with the loss of her older brother, Nick. Even though he continued the curse, he was still her brother. And since the massacre, she's been exiled from her family, since she killed Nick. Her mother went along with the story that Nick was killed by Thomas Slater, saving Charlie from jail time, but exiled her for killing her son.
