✎ "woah, it's been awhile since I've actually been able to beat you in a fighting game, Nene!~" Rui hummed, feeling a bit high of himself for beating his childhood friend, the ultimate pro gamer girl in the flesh, Nene Kusanagi.
"meh..." Nene grumbled, dropping down on her bed from her position of sitting up. "it's just luck on your end... don't get too cocky," Nene sighed, closing her eyes in discomfort.
"what's up with you today, Nene? something's got you in dismay..." Rui asked, furrowing his brows in concern.
something really was up with her, all today and last night. did she mess up yesterday? even if Tsukasa liked her back, what would happen next? she didn't know what to do, plus, just the thought of it was so embarrassing! why was it she even fell in love with that confusing idiot anyway!? she swore to herself she wouldn't!
"uhh... look, Rui... I'm just trusting you with this information because I need to get this off my mind, okay?" she insisted, deciding to just say it already instead of later, when by then the intrusive thoughts would get worse and worse. Nene couldn't have that.
"alright. I'm listening," Rui answered, waiting for Nene to explain what's been weighing her down lately. "okay, I know damn well I should've told you this earlier before it got this bad but.... I kissed Tsukasa..." Nene admitted, covering her eyes as she said that, as she was scared to see Rui's reaction.
....
Nene peeked through her fingers, hoping her childhood friend and troupe member's reaction wouldn't be that bad. "ooh..." Rui just nodded like it was such an average thing to say. "...wait. you... what!?" Rui gasped, his mouth opened very slightly in shock.
"I gotta tell Emu-kun about this...~" Rui pulled out his phone, going to text Emu. "Rui, no! just, listen-"
Nene threw her hands down from her face to defend herself, though it wasn't much of a defense. she just stuttered out the sentence, "I know I should've told you way earlier that I even liked the idiot in the first place... b-but-" before getting cut off by the purple and teal-haired male.
"Nene, I already knew you were into him," Rui chuckled. "you did!?" Nene almost groaned. the least Rui could've done was tell her that earlier. if he had just told her that, she could've gotten this 'little' crush of hers out of her head before she got too ahead of herself and ended up confessing to the self-proclaimed star! aughh!!
"yeah, I notice most things, especially when it comes to the girl I've known my whole life," Rui whistled, an evil cat-like grin on his face. "I knew it even before you did."
"you could've told me, idiot!" Nene scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest in annoyance. "I wanted you to find out your feelings on your own, and look where it got you...~" Rui teased, lowering his eyelids smugly.
"I literally hate you," Nene huffed, averting her eyes angrily, while Rui was texting on his phone.
"Emu-kun, come over to Nene's place, we both have something to tell you," Rui sent, getting an instantly excited reply back. "really!? is it really Wonderhoy!?"
"indeed, it is very Wonderhoy. come over and see," Rui typed up another text and sent it, confirming that what Rui was going to make Nene tell Emu was pretty worthy of coming over, or Wonderhoy.
"ooooh, I can't wait!!! >_< I'm coming over right now, like 'ZOOMY, ZOOMY!!!!'" Emu's final text read, in which Rui glanced over at Nene.
"Rui..." Nene sighed. she wasn't that upset with him anymore, though. maybe it was good if she could get this anxiety out of her, then she'd be able to actually approach Tsukasa again and muster up what to say to him, how to explain why she did what she did.
she needed someone understanding for that, and, surely, her two other troupe mates were quite understanding, right? soo...
"not like I have a choice anyway, but... fine..." Nene uttered. "Emu can come over."
....
meanwhile with Tsukasa, a flashback to last night....
Tsukasa burst through his front door, out of breath and sweaty. had he been running? why for?
Saki gasped when she saw her older brother's state. "Tsukasa, are you alright!?" Saki shouted in worry, running over to the panting star. "yeah... just... out of breath," Tsukasa managed to say in between gasps for air.
"why...? were you running from a bear on the highway or something!?" Saki asked, her eyes widened in so many emotions all at once. Tsukasa's panicked face made Saki want to care for him just like he did for her when she was small and sick in the hospital.
even when she was in her most powerless and worst moments, Tsukasa was always there for her, sitting right beside her hospital bed.
"Tsukasa... please, tell me what happened," Saki begged, guiding Tsukasa over to the couch to rest. "Saki, I apologize if this is a weird question to ask...." Tsukasa paused, building up momentum for the following words to come out of his mouth.
"Saki, be honest with me... have you ever kissed a guy... or a girl?" Tsukasa said out of the blue, his face was scarily serious. "what type of question is that, Tsukasa!?" Saki exclaimed, her cheeks quickly heating up. "we're supposed to be talking about your situation!"
"we are talking about my situation, my dear sister," Tsukasa explained, leaving Saki in even more shock than before, if that was even possible.
"WHAT!?" Saki screamed, her voice echoing throughout their empty house, since their parents weren't home.
no way...! did Tsukasa...!?
