Chapter 4: The determination

Ember was back to Fire Town, still looking at the Brochure in sadness.

When she reach the Shop, she saw the "Closed" Sign on the  Door, it shocks her as she said "What? Already?" She burst into the shop, but finds it empty "Hello?" But then she heard a coughing in the basement,  she runs over to the basement and finds it every shocking as the Basement room was still flooded and many of the pipes were still leaking and bursting everywhere.

"Oh no! Dad! What happened here?" She ask in confusion, Bernie was in a rush of welding the leaking and burst pipe, "We are lucky nobody got hurt! It ruins Red Dot Sale!" He exclaimed as Ember winch in guilt, but then Bernie ask Ember "Did he do this?"

Ember was confused, "Who?" Bernie reply "The Water guy I see you chase." A drip of water and on his face,  flinching him. Ember Fibbed "Oh, uh, um......Yeah, he did, he jus t broke through a pipe. I don't know why. Luckily, I was able to close it off. I, uh, couldn't catch though." 

Bernie flared with anger "Water," He spat "Always trying to water us down!"

Ember remind him "Awe was a Water Person, Dad, not just water."

Bernie grumbled, "Same thing, And why is there water in the pipes?" Ember shrug as she helps her father of welding the pipe "I don't know , but it's not just the Shop. But the others in Fire Town is having the same thing with the leaky water." 

"The city shut it down years ago. There should no water!" Bernie exclaimed, but then he cough again but he cough badly that he is loosing balance. But Ember manages to catch him before he hits the water, "Dad!" She exclaimed as  Cinder came to him and aid of rubbing his back, "We will get through to this. Just like before," That caught Ember's attention as she ask her parents,  

"Before?" She ask Cinder, as she looks at her daughter.

"There is a reason we left Fire Land, Oh Ember it was beautiful there."

As Cinder describe the moment  of her and Bernie's past when they still live in Fire Land.

It was beautiful, in the village  on one of the buildings is Bernie who's building a Restaurant while Cinder who is pregnant with Ember, watch proudly at Bernie who's finishing the sign.

"Here in FireTown, we  are only  one family had one." Cinder explained, 

Cinder looks at her pregnant stomach where she felt a kick, knowing that her baby was happy.

"Your father put everything we had into starting our life together. But then a great storm came," She said in grave,

As Bernie was climbing down, he saw ahead that a huge storm is coming towards their village and it was a powerful storm and it was terrifying for the two couple as the storms hits their home. They race inside , but just as the powerful storm hit their restaurant as it cause debris falling  on top of them, one of them hits the Cauldron which holds the Blue Flame and it cause to tip over. 

Bernie who saw it, ran over and grab a lantern. He quickly capture the Blue flames just as the restaurant continues  collapsing as Bernie and Cinder hold on to each other.

"All was lost to us," Cinder explain,

As the storm was finally over, and the whole village was in damages but Bernie's Restaurant was mostly in ruins as he look at the Lantern and then his Wife who is sleeping on the floor. 

"But it was too painful to stay," Cinder said, "We have to needed to start over, somewhere new."

The next day, at the dock Bernie and Cinder were getting on the boat as Bernie's parents watch the two sail off from the shore and the two watch as their home was disappearing . "It was the last time your father ever saw his family," Cinder explained,
