They had spent a good deal of time walking together in the woods. The moon eventually rise above them. They gripped flashlights in their hands and kept an eye on their surroundings, scanning the trees for any unexpected movements or potential threats.

This had continued in silence for a while. Bailey had preferred the quiet to the arguments between Jonathan and Nancy on Steve Harrington's. he hadn't given Steve much thought. However, he sensed that Nancy was either adept at hiding her love for Steve or that she didn't truly feel it.

They turned around when Nancy stopped. "What, are you tired?" Jonathan enquired.

"Shut up." Nancy responded.

"What?"

Gazing at the pair, Bailey pondered whether their arguments would ever come to an end. But he turned to face the darkness when he heard a disturbance. "I heard something." Nancy mumbled something. attempting to explore the surroundings.

They'd listened intently, walking slowly through the woods, looking for the crying animal lost in the woods. An animal in pain, the monster was one possibility for its cause. Thus, as they made their way into the woods, they had all tightly gripped their weapons.

They had shined a light on a deer that was lying in the woods as the three approached the sound of the dying animal. The idea of something terrible occurring to something that appeared so innocent had caused grimaces to form on their face. Bailey turned away, unable to bear to stare at the poor creature in agony as everyone knelt down to have a better look.

"We can't just leave it." Nancy murmured, glancing at Jonathan, with regret. With a growing frown, she gently raised the gun to aim at the deer. It was preferable to end its suffering than to let it lie there feeling afraid and defenceless after it had passed away.

"I'll do it." With a quiet voice, Jonathan extended his hand to grasp the rifle. Nancy hesitated before passing it over. Everyone had got up and retreated a short distance while observing Jonathan trembling to raise the rifle. Nancy turned away as Jonathan pointed it down at the dying animal, and Bailey closed his eyes and covered his ears to block out any sound.

They all sprang in terror as the animal was swiped away. Bailey, perplexed by what had transpired, lowered his hands. He cast a sidelong glance towards Nancy and Jonathan, who appear to have recently encountered a ghost.

"What was that?" Nancy whimpered, she was slightly shaking as she herself looked between the boys.

Bailey held his dagger tightly, prepared to strike at any moment as they followed the blood that was all over the place. "Where did it go to?" Nancy enquired as she searched the area for signs of the animal.

"I don't know." Jonathan answered. "Do you see any more blood?"

"Nothing." Bailey replied. He raised his gaze to the sky. He detested the unavoidable sensation that they were being watched.

Bailey kept scanning the area, but nothing seemed particularly off-putting. "Where is Nancy?" Jonathan questioned the boy with dark hair. When he glanced around, Nancy had vanished from view.

"She was in this exact spot." In response, Bailey turned to search for the girl. They both heard a scream all of a sudden.

"Nancy!" When Jonathan yelled, they both rushed to look at her belongings on the ground, but she was nowhere to be seen.

"Nancy?" Bailey said while searching for her. Jonathan echoed what he said as they flaunted their flashlights.

"Nancy, where are you?" Jonathan yelled out.

They both looked in separate directions for their hunt. yelling the girls' name as they looked.

"Jonathan! Bailey!"Although they couldn't see the girl, they could hear her voice.

"Nancy, follow my voice—I'm right here!" Bailey ran to Jonathan after he called, and they both kept walking quickly.

"Nancy!"

they both turned and went back towards it. Although Bailey didn't want to think that Nancy was in that tree in any way, it appeared that it  was gradually becoming more believable.

It appeared to be a heart that was beating or breathing as they peered deeper into the tree. "Nancy." Jonathan murmured. A hand reached out, causing both lads to stumble backwards.

"Jonathan! Bailey!"

It took some effort at first, but in the end, they both grabbed her hand and dragged her back into their reality, releasing Nancy from whatever was inside that tree. Nancy was crying softly when Jonathan gave her a hug. The three of them sat there, pondering what had just happened, while Bailey watched the tree revert to its original shape.

- When I first watched this episode, Nancy gave me a heart attack. Scared the shit out of me when her hand reached out.
