"This loneliness like a prison

Many people have passed by

But everyone just passed me by"

Shards of mirror-like glass floated all around her. Many different scenes played across those shards of glass, intriguing Beth greatly.

She was in an incorporeal form again, common for her whenever she was unconscious. However, instead of seeing memories in person, in 3D, she was seeing several disturbing visions in those shards of glass.

In one scene, she saw a look-alike of herself who appeared to be teaching at an orphanage. In another, she saw a girl married to her high-school crush. In yet another, she saw a badass lady sporting black leathers and a gun in her hand, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

"These are different realities." She breathed.

A scene caught her eye.

The lady of that reality wore a flowing white dress, a gold circlet adorning her hair. Two gold knives were strapped to her waist and she moved with lethal grace. Golden swirls of magic flew from her hands with elegance and precision, tying up the Chitauri on Earth with ease. She glanced at the portal, many blocks away, watching Thor smash into a Leviathan.

"Don't hurt yourself, my lord." She snapped. Even though she and Thor could not see each other, they could hear each other perfectly. "I have no intention of capturing Loki just to have you incapacitated."

"Rest assured, sister-in-law." Thor rumbled. "I have no intention of dying."

She slashed through two more Chitauri with ease. "Make sure the Avengers don't discover me either. And recover the Tesseract intact. I don't want it to accidentally kill every being on this Earth."

Thor sighed. "Very well."

Golden streams of energy burst from her fingers, decimating three more Chitauri. "When an object of power surfaces, others will follow." She muttered, more to herself than anything.

There was no more conversation and all that was left was fighting.

As much as Beth was awed by the magic, she moved on to the next scene.

There were six stones that hovered over her hand. The Space Stone, The Reality Stone, The Power Stone, The Mind Stone, The Time Stone and The Soul Stone.

Rotating in a circular motion over the motionless hand, the girl of that reality watched as a green skinned girl walked over with a blue skinned girl.

"Gamora. Nebula." She greeted curtly.

"I see father entrusted you to take care of the stones." Nebula remarked in her dry and breathy voice.

"This is wrong." Gamora said, her voice conflicted. "Half of all life across the universe? There will be so many lives that are lost."

"Then we stop him." She said. "Take the stones away from him."

"How?" Gamora asked. "How did he even get the Soul Stone in the first place? It's supposed to be the best protected."

Her eyes dulled slightly, pain clouding her face. "It demands a price in exchange. Let's just say he made me pay the price."

Nebula's head snapped up and met her gaze. "Is that why he isn't here?"
