Beth would have continued to mope around had it not been for a rather loud and obnoxious knocking on her front door.

"Password?" She queried irritably, making her way slowly to open the door.

"I don't know. Besides, I think you know who I am." A male voice said pleasantly.

Beth groaned. She did know who was outside. "What do you want?" She snapped. "If it's to inquire after the listening bugs you put in my house, you can leave. I put them all in the zoo."

The door swung open to reveal Phil Coulson wearing a suit. Behind him, a cherry red Corvette was parked.

"Really, Coulson?" Beth shook her head with a laugh. "Lola? Come on in then."

He smiled fondly at the car. "Got a bit banged up recently but she still flies like a charm."

"How's T.A.H.I.T.I.?" Beth inquired sarcastically.

Coulson grimaced. "Not so magical."

Beth nodded, not really paying attention as she made her way further into the house. "And for the record, I gave Fury that rose. Do you want anything to drink?"

He shook his head. "I just came to drop something off. Do you know what it is?"

"Coulson, darling, I don't know everything. Besides, how did Fury guess that I would know you?"

"He guessed that you know most of what happens. Since you don't seem like a hacker type, nor the type to run an underground information organization, he can only hazard a guess and say you have some sort of weird power. Sounds a bit far-fetched to me, but then I was dead and now I'm alive so..." He trailed off, shrugging.

She smirked slightly. "Huzzah to Fury. Last one's correct. I'm not going to say more. Just give me whatever it is. I'm sure you're quite busy with rebuilding a secret organization."

Coulson tossed her a disk. Barely two centimeters in diameter, the device was black and had a clip on the bottom of it. Glancing at Coulson in puzzlement, she turned the disk over in her hands, inspecting it.

"It's a new thing that Fury got from Stark's. I don't know what it does either. He just said to give it to you. Apparently, you're supposed to go ask Stark how it works."

"Coulson, I'm in North Carolina. I'm not just going to drop everything and run to New York on a whim." Beth said tartly. "Besides, I heard that Anthony is busy with running his current 'super secret boy band' in his brand spanking new tower. I'm not walking into an Avengers facility and asking him how to use this."

Coulson's eyes twinkled slightly. "Maybe you will."

Beth glowered at him playfully. "Pity I don't know what you're hiding from me."

He raised his eyebrows. "So you don't know everything."

"I know enough." She shot back.

He just smirked and left.

And that was the last she saw of Phil Coulson for a long while.

Beth soon found that pressing the disk seemed to activate it. A complicated holographic screen sprang from it and caused her to go crazy because she couldn't figure out how to work it.
