"Here we go." You thought to yourself, taking a deep breath. Today was your first day at the military academy. After graduation, much to your foster family's dismay, you plan on joining the survey corps. All the cadets filed in, standing in neat rows facing the stage. Soon after everyone was settled, a group of captains, corporals and instructors filed onto the stage. "ATTENTION!!!" a loud voice called out. Everyone immediately saluting. "AT EASE." everyone folded their hands behind their backs. "THE NAME IS KEITH SHADIS. AND I'M HERE TO MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GRADUATE IN 3 YEARS YOU HAVE BECOME STRONG SOLDIERS! NOT THE PATHETIC BABIES YOU ARE TODAY!" He continued on about how weak and stupid you all are for a while. After he was done making everyone feel like useless shit, the other superiors began introducing themselves.
"Commander Erwin,13th commander of the survey corps. Any man or woman to serve under my command must be willing to lay down their life in the fight for humanity." A few cadets shifted nervously. then there was Commander Pixis, Captain Kitts Woerman, squad leader Rico Brzenska, squad leader Hange, and finally, Corporal Levi Ackerman.
"Corporal, Levi Ackerman." he said stating his name. His voice was deep, and smooth. He held himself with great confidence, hands clasped behind his back, standing straight, shoulders back, chin up. This made him look intimidating, even though he was the smallest superior on stage. "To you, it's Corporal or Sir." He began to slowly pace across the stage, staring everyone down, as if stalking his prey. "You will not address me by my first name." all the cadets were now looking straight ahead, in the formal position for being addressed by a superior. No one dared move, for fear of becoming an example of his wrath. "If you disobey this order." He was at the far end of the stage now, and turned to look back at the cadets. Every single one of them was looking straight ahead. As his eyes skimmed over the crowd, he noticed one turned head. You. He locked eyes with you and your heart began to race, he looked angry. Pacing back the way he came from, his eyes never left yours. "you WILL suffer the consequences."
The corporal paused when he returned to the center of the stage. You never looked away from his dark eyes. You were nervous, his gaze that skimmed the whole crowd moments ago is fixated on you, only you. "Only the best, most loyal, and skilled soldiers will serve my squad." His cold eyes seemed to soften slightly, his head slightly tilted, and he looked like a completely different person than he did when he first stepped on stage. The changes were miniscule, and probably wouldn't have been noticed unless you had been looking into his eyes for so long, as you had. "So I expect nothing less." Your cheeks turned light pink, knowing that last bit was to you, personally.
Corporal seemed to hesitate for a moment before coming down the short flight of steps, into the crowd. He walked down the center path slowly, looking from person, to person. Some would shudder as he brushed his gaze over them, some drew in a shaky breath, but they all refused to look at him. He was coming straight for you. You dropped your gaze to the ground, trying to calm yourself. You closed your eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath. When you opened them, you saw a man's black boots standing right in front of you. Your stomach twisted into a knot as you slowly moved your gaze up, seeing a lean, strong body wearing a survey corps uniform, hands clasped behind the back. Then you locked eyes with him again, struggling to control your anxiety. Corporal watched you for a moment, his expression never changing. "Cadet." his low voice breaking the dead silence. You immediately saluted.
"Sir!" You responded strongly, though your breathing was shaky and uneven. He furrowed his eyebrows briefly, noticing the slight tremors moving through your body. He could tell you were scared, but was surprised at how well you composed yourself despite the fact.
"State your name, and year in the program." He said flatly. the emotionless expression returning to his face.
" (Y-Y\F\N), Sir." you stuttered. "And this is m-my first year" He raised an eyebrow at you. "Sir!" You added quickly. He nodded slightly.
