And when there was a king and a queen, the Ashcrofts caught their eye by fascinating them with their naturally-developed craft.
They began to become more aquainted to the royal world as they joined the royal couple more often at the dinners back then. Then the latter thought:
"My dear king, you have no brother and our monarchy is in its early days."
"Should I ask you what you suggest, my dear queen?"
"We should strengthen it. And by this I mean you should surround yourself with men of quality. But for the people to trust them you should entrust them with titles."
"I must admit I am intrigued. Do you already have someone in mind?"
"What about Peter and his wife Mara? Why not make them our first greatest allies?"
"The Ashcrofts? Yes, indeed. They seem to me very good people. They are not pretentious and they are hard-working."
"Indeed, my royal highness."
"Very well then. I shall bestow upon them the title of Duke and Duchess of the Ashcroft lands."

RomanceMy beloved reader, this is a story where anything is possible. One must know that this is a glimpse full of despair, drama, fiction and (most importantly, perhaps) romance of the 19th-Century America.
