"...So I sat there, BBQ sauce on my titties feeling incredibly confused as to how I'd even got there in the first place." The woman continued not noticing Ben slam his face down onto the counter and groan inwardly.

It had been over an hour since this woman had entered his store and all she's done since then was talking about what had happened on her most recent attempt at a date. Ben groaned inwardly as he mustered up the kindest smile he could, "As much as I'd love to hear how this story ends, I really have to go serve my other customers."

The woman blinked in confusion before she glanced down at her watch in surprise. "Oh!" She exclaimed before looking back at Ben, smiling apologetically, "I'm so sorry, I kind of got carried away there."

"It's alright, maybe we can continue our talk later." He said as he turned to leave, catching a small glimpse of a set of papers in the woman's bag taking note that they were all rejection letters. Putting the thought of the letters in the back of his mind, Ben went back to serving his drinks.

'Wow... hard to believe that it's been a week since Tora and Bea last visited. I wonder what they're doing now?' He thought as served his last two customers and began making his way back to the woman from earlier, who seemed to be busy reading her rejection letters with a steady frown on her face.

"I take it that the news isn't great?" Ben asked as he sat down opposite her. The woman looked up, a look of relief briefly appeared in her eyes as Ben placed a fresh caramel chocolate smoothie in front of her.

"Thanks." She said as she placed the papers down on the table and picked up the drink to take a sip. "Harleen Quinzel." Ben arched an eyebrow in confusion, "My name is Harleen Quinzel but you can call me Harley." She continued as she extended her hand towards him.

"Nice to meet you Harley, I'm Ben." He responded in kind as he shook her hand. "Now it seems to me like you need a job and maybe a place to stay to from the looms of things." He said as he glanced down at the rejection letters. Harley looked at him, raising her eyebrow in confusion and wondered what he was talking about, "What do you mean by that?" She asked.

Ben smiled kindly, "What I mean is that I'm currently short on staff and need some extra hands." He clarified as he gestured to the counter, "It would certainly make things easier to do and if you need a place to stay then I've got an extra room above the store that I usually crash at whenever I can't bring myself to go home." He continued as Harley listened quietly while she drank her drink.

Once he finished, she placed down her drink and looked at him, "What's your game?" She asked after a few moments of looking.

"Huh?"

"I mean why are you doing this?" She clarified after seeing the confused looks on his face. Ben leaned back in his chair and thought for a moment before glancing back at her with a gentle smile on his face, "It's because you look like you need help." He answered, confusing her.

"Explain." She asked, evidently intrigued by his response. "I'm not the kind of person who can look at someone else and just watch as they suffer quietly, and you seem to be struggling." He clarified before standing up and adjusting his shirt. "And unfortunately we're out of time but if you still need a job then you know where to find me." He said before turning to leave.

"Wait!" Harleen cried out as she grabbed his arm, preventing him from leaving. "Yes?" He asked as he turned back to face her. She looked nervous for a moment before steeling her gaze and looked at him with determination, "When do I start?" She asked, causing a grin to break out in Ben's face as he replied, "You start tomorrow, but I have to ask, do you have a place to stay for the night?"

Harley shook her head, "Alright then, you can stay here for a bit." His response surprised her, but a relieved smile formed on her face, "Oh thank you!" She cried as she pulled him into a hug.

Several minutes later and Ben was giving Harley the grand tour of his secondary home. "Now I know it isn't much, but it does job well." Ben finished explaining as he handed Harley a towel and guided her towards the bathroom. "Now, if there's anything you need, then don't be afraid to call me." He said as he turned to leave, but before he could, he found that it was raining heavily outside, "Nevermind! Looks like I'll also be staying here for the night." He exclaimed and closed the door before making his way to his own bedroom.

Unbeknownst to him, however, someone was watching him from a distance. The figure looked like a 10 year old child version of Ben himself and he wore a crimson red shirt with a black line running down the middle alongside a grey pair of pants, his hair was a pure snow white and his skin was pale. His eyes were a pure blood red, and on his wrist was a strange device that had an hourglass symbol emblazed upon its core.

"I've finally found you, Tennyson..." Albedo began in a nasally sounding voice that reflected his current status as a 10 year old. "Mark my words, you will pay for what you did to me, and you will rue the day that I have my revenge. Even if I have to work with this world's villains to do it." He announced before turning to leave and taking a strange device out of his pocket. "But first, I must locate the others that have no doubt come here as well."
