Angelina's POV
My life right now is tough, really tough. After my mother was killed when I was 17- which was confirmed to be by the Albanians, the Spanish mafia came into my possession.
I was her heir. I don't know why or how, but I was also given the record of being the youngest mafia queen to ever exist and probably the youngest leader to rule a mafia as well.
How did I get this title? My mother's family. They had always been, how should I put it... secretive? Quiet? Her father was the leader from the 1950s to the 1980s when her older brother ruled until the early 1990s; he was killed 5 years later by the Albanians.
I never really knew the man, so it never bothered me.
But it bothered my mother because he had no spouse or heir, so my mother was appointed as the Spanish mafia leader, as the second-born child of the Perez family.
Thankfully her identity remained unknown, and she had never been a target to my knowledge.
Being a female leader was a big turning point in the history of the Spanish mafia, but she somehow made it work.
From what I've found out, the Albanians have been caught by the FBI many times. To the outsiders, they are forced to be recognized as a gang, but in the underworld, they are recognized as a mafia.
The leader, Fatbard Shkreli, and my grandfather were never ones to agree on anything. In 1974, the Albanian and Spanish mafia declared war against each other.
After the 80s, it died down as the two men came close to retirement to hand it to the next heir, but it was never officially declared over.
My mother fell in love on a business trip to Italy and ended up staying longer than expected as she and my father were head over heels for each other. They got close, and after a few months, they wedded.
They had four kids together: three older brothers and, lastly, me, the Costellos. My father's name, Angelo Costello, is well-known in the underworld. My mother never took his surname, claiming hers was all she had left of her family.
My father is currently one of the world's most powerful mafia leaders, owning the third-biggest mafia in Italy.
He is allied with the Sicilian mafia, the 'top of the pyramid,' as they say, ruled by the one and only, the second youngest leader ever to be recorded after me, Leonardo Rossi.
I've never seen him before in person but what I know is that he was appointed at age 19 when his father had injured himself when playing golf, when he fell and landed with a major spinal injury.
It's a weird way to almost die, right?
Leonardo is known to be the most ruthless, violent man to ever rule a mafia. He displays no emotion and has a very calm demeanour.
This probably is the reason why his mafia is thriving the way it is. He is also known to have the vilest ways of ending a man's life.
I heard that once he left a man in sulfuric acid until the lower half of his body was corroded to the bone, then dropped the rest of his body in when he was dead.
Many know very little about the Spanish mafia. We are very quiet. We are also ranked second in the underworld. Might I say I ranked second; we were 18th before I came into rule.
Like they say, know the most by saying the least.
All it took was two years, a shit ton of my time and effort, and the motivation to get revenge for my mother's death, and bam.
I mean not bam, it's really not that simple.
I got rid of a few people, and I hired new members from gangs all over the world who were willing to dedicate their loyalty to a woman, and, more so, a teenager.
