I stare as he effortlessly tosses the ball up into the air and serves it.

I'm still panicking.

Why did I agree?? The only thing I remember from learning how to play was to hit it and I'm not even fully sure I can do that right. But thankfully, it looks like 2 other people kinda suck at this too. One of the girls has blonde, short hair. Like almost buzzed. I look at her, she looks pretty cool. The girl next to me has long brown hair in a braid with some teal highlights.

And the person on my right is.. The guy. I stare for a minute as the ball gets passed from us to the other team, and he turns to me. And SMILES. He SMILES. at ME??? I try to smile back, but then some other guy yells,
"HEY DUDE, HIT THE BALL!"
I whip my head around just in time to hit it, and I hit it past the other team, scoring the first point.

"WOOO!! Damn kid that was a good hit!" Says the dude who screamed at me previously, he's got black hair, no shirt, a cross necklace, and looks somewhat older. I nod my head at him,

"Thanks! I'm actually not too good at this game so I'm surprised I hit that!" I say, laughing.
"Yeah, whats your name?" I hear his voice say.
I fully turn to him as my heart pounds almost out of my chest, and say confidently,
"My names stan! Short for Stanley, but yeah, call me stan!"
I'm suprised I got that out without stuttering or saying "uh" or "um".

"Well cool, I'm Kyle! Kyle broflovski." He says while sticking his hand out for a high five. I take the chance and high five him. The singular moment our hands touch, I can feel his warmth through the palm of his hand, its enough to cause my stomach to erupt in butterflies.

"Alright shitheads, back to the game!" I hear the blonde girl from the other side say.
She says it with a smile though, so I assume she's half joking.
"Fine fine, were coming." Kyle jokes, rolling his eyes half-heartedly.

I get back into position, next to Kyle.
Kyle. That's his name. God why was everything about him attractive.
Not attractive.
Well yes I mean for other people but not me because I'm not gay.
Hes attractive in the platonic way. If that exists. Or makes sense.

The ball is shot up into the air again, and my head gets into the game, watching it's every move. I hit it a few times, one other time I hit it pretty hard and scored another point. In total by the end we had 4 and they had 2.

As the rest of the other kids were giving us high fives and saying "good game" Kyle walked up to me with the brown haired girl.
"Stan! I would like you to meet Avalyn."
Fuck this sounds like he's introducing me to his girlfriend.
Please don't be together please don't be together- wait why does it even matter??
"Hi!" She says with a cheery tone.
"Hi!" I say back in the same cheery tone, hoping to sound friendly.

She leans over and whispers in Kyle's ear, making his face go red.

What was that??

I slowly blink, still trying to figure out whether they were dating or not.
"Alright stan, it was nice to meet you, however me and Kyle need to get back home."
Wait am I hearing this right? They LIVE together?
"Yeah me and my stupid sister need to sleep. Were getting up early tomorrow to watch the sunrise. You can join us if you'd like!"
Ohhhh they're SIBLINGS. that makes sense.

"Yeah sure I'll join you!" I say, my mouth moving faster than my mind. I want sleep. What. Am. I. Doing.
Now I have to join them. Not that I don't want to, it's just I like my sleep.
"Alright then, Stan! See you tomorrow!" Kyle says, walking away with Avalyn.
Wait what time does the sun even rise here?

~

5:30. It rises. At 5:30.
I sigh, as I put my head down on the pillow.
I'm not even tired yet. I set my alarm for 5:15, hopefully I can get up by then. I turn my light off and turn on rain sounds on my phone because there is no way I'm sleeping this early without it. It is 10. Why did I even agree to that? God why is this even happening? Why did I panick when he asked me? I am straight. Maybe I'm not? But I'm not gay. I have a girlfriend. And I'm sure I've liked girls. Never guys.
