A/N: We're not talking about the fact that it's 1am right now and tomorrow I have a sleepover, I'll be so tired. Doesn't matter, enjoy! And we're not talking about the fact this was written four months ago and I'm leaving it like it was bc first ff and everything.
Panting.
My mouth opened to suck in more air while laying on the floor.
"Did you both shuckin' seriously have to race 100mph?" Alby asked in disbelief and, even my dumbass could tell, stress.
"Not my... fault..." Minho took fast breaths almost faint to me.
My heartbeat was too loud, plus my breathing heavily making it hard to even listen.
"You're... just mad,..." I gasped for breath. "I won."
"Did not!..." he puffed out.
"I have a lot more going on then discussing about who won a klunking race, shanks!" Alby shouted at us. "Minho, don't you have work to do?"
"Bring me a glass of water and than we'll talk."
Mari and I both stared at him in shock, did he just speak to the Chief like that?
"Give me a break." he groaned but after a few seconds screamed. "Jim!"
A slim boy, I saw once with Fry, turned to us. "Yes, Alby?"
"Get me a glass of water."
Now Mari and I look at Alby in surprise.
Jim looked a little confused but shrugged it off and answered. "On it."
And rushes in the kitchen in Homestead.
It's basically a massive hut, that looks like it would fold the moment a breeze of wind would go through the Glade. But it still stood. It looked shabby with all of the wood sticking out nevertheless alright work for teenage boys.
"Now, I've discussed with Newt on where yer'll be sleepin' for now. Can't let you stay in the Pit if you didn't even do anything, now can we?"
Forget everything I said about the Homestead being alright. Don't you dare say we'll be sleeping in that finching Homestead.
Alby continued. "The Homestead is full to its brim-"
"Why'd you want to meet us then here?" I shot at him.
"I'll get to that in a moment, if you wouldn't interrupt me. Okay? Good. Near Homestead, we have huts for all our Keepers-"
"I'm not giving my hut up. I earned it." This time Minho cut Alby off. "Neither do I think any of the other Keepers would want to."
"Slintheads, stop interrupting me and let me get to my shuckin' point!"
That even made Minho quiet down. He's also sitting on the ground, out of that all signs of our race a few minutes ago are gone.
"The Builders are working on a hut for y'all. But don't you think it's going to be a palace, yer'll be lucky if you got a roof above your heads. Got it?"
Nodding our heads in unison... including Minho, why's he still here?
"However that might take a while to a few days, depends on how fast Gally and his crew is. For that period of time, you can choose to sleep outside like some other Gladers do which I don't recommend or I'll switcheroo a few Keepers so they can bunk and ya can have in the mean time their hut."
"No Keeper should bunk with one another just because two girls need a place to sleep in, that doesn't seem fair." Minho complained straight after Alby paused.
"It's really alright, Alby. That would be asking for too much." Mari spoke softly.
"Newt was already willing to give up his hut." He turned to Minho. "That's why I told you to get Diana, Newt will sleep with you till anyone's got a better idea or their hut is finished." Alby stated.
"I mean I'm alright with Newt and all but why do we have to give up-"
"No buts, Minho. Gathering chose it while you where in the Maze."
The boy, Jim, came with the water but nor Alby or Minho took notice of him.
"You did a Gathering without me?" Minho yelped and stood up as if Alby had just killed someone and confessed.
"Yes, a lot was going on and you should've waited like I told you to. End of discussion." Alby looked like he was about to throw hands but then turned around just to stumble into Jim.
The rest was like domino's: The cup of water flew out of Jim's hands, dumping all over Minho.
"SLINTHEAD! MOTHERSHUCKER OF A GRIEVER! KLUNKFACE!" And a lot of other curses followed.
I did not know a small cup like that could soak a person that much. His whole upper body was visible... you could say he's muscular. Veins were visible, there were-
It's not that hot anyways, I quickly look back to Alby.
"Calm down, Minho. It's just water."
"Just water? I'm checking later with the Mapmakers and you want me to soak all of the maps? That's what you want!?"
"You can dry."
"Ah, didn't know that. Thanks for this life changing information, Alby really. Do you want me to praise you, my god, my savior, Alby." With that he stomped away.
Alby just sighed.
"Follow me, I'll show you Newt's hut." Alby went into the opposite direction.
We followed as usual.
With a little distance to Alby though.
"Diana?" Mari whispered to me.
"Mhm?" Maybe she wants to tell me if they know something new about the girl.
"You won the race." She smiled.
"Hah, I knew it!" I exclaimed, wasn't what I expected but still good news is good news. Even if it was obvious that I won.
A/N: I'm scared to reread this tomorrow and change everything. This seems kinda rushed and I think Mari and Diana spoke together five times in the chapter but my excuse: they had to know where they sleep. The pits not really a long term solution.
I feel like they could've slept at Homestead though in the books it's described as so full some chose to sleep outside, so that's why that wasn't really an option for me lol
Hope you enjoyed
