"So, how's Spencer?"

"What?" I shoot Courtney an annoyed look. "Spencer is fine. He just sent me the new rough cut to start on."

(A/N: rough cut is a video that hasn't been edited yet! carry on :))

"I meaaann how was your drive home yesterday? Anything interesting happen?" Courtney gives a dramatic wink. What are they talking about?

It takes everything in me not to gush about the text he got from his significant other. I really thought he liked me, but he has someone waiting for him at home.

"It was okay. It rained a little bit. Why do you care?" I realize I sounded a little nastier than intended.

"Just wondering." Courtney goes back to folding their laundry, clearly stung by my tone.

I sigh heavily as I click on my email to see the array of new projects I have to start on. I've been working at Smosh for about 3 months now, which means I get 3 times more work than when I started. Really awesome.

"How's it going Spoiler Alert?" A familiar voice asks behind me. I hear Spencer crack open a can and I immediately know what's in it.

"Mountain Dew Kickstart is terrible for you." I say dryly, clicking out of my email and spinning around in my chair to look at Spencer.

He chuckles. "I know, you've told me." Even though I know he has a partner, his smile and his laugh still give me butterflies.

He stands awkwardly for a second before moving to sit down at his desk next to me. "I was thinking, Spoiler Alert, since I'm your supervisor, I could probably help you with some of your projects."

"Oh my god, could you? That would save my life!" I relax in my chair a bit.

"No problem man. If you want, I can give you my phone number so you can let me know what you need help with? Of course, my line will be open for other things too, work related or not." He smiles with his offer.

Even though he is definitely not flirting with me, it definitely feels like it. I still melt at the thought of getting his number even though he's taken.

"For sure. Thank you Spencer," I give him a quick smile. "you're a real one."

It's been about a week since Spencer drove me home. We've been working together well, and he's taken a lot off my plate. We've been texting non-stop, too.

As I'm playing him back in 8-ball, Courtney comes through the door grinning like a little kid. I look up at them, confused. "Who's got you smiling like that Court?"

"Ohhh y'know... just.. a guy." They giggle. Courtney has never shown interest in anyone before, that I know of.

"A guy?! Seriously?" They giggle again and rush over to the couch.

"I can't say any more now. But I need to ask you something. A bunch of Smosh people are going out tonight, and I had to see if you wanted to come with. There will be alcohol!" They teased.

"I don't know, Courtney, I'm not really in the mood." I slump back on the couch, cowering at the idea of getting up and getting dressed.

"Spencer will be there!" They blurted out. "and Shayne, and Amanda, and Angela, and probably Keith and Noah."

"Oh!" I say, surprised everyone was going out on a weeknight. "Is Spencer bringing his girlfriend?"

Courtney looks taken aback. "Girlfriend? Spencer doesn't have a girlfriend."

"WHAT?!" Now I'm more taken aback than Courtney. "He doesn't?"

"Not that I know of. What made you think that?" They move closer to me on the couch, as if trying to listen for the answer to their question in my confused expression.

"When he drove me home, he got a text from a person with the heart emoji as their name. I assumed it was a girl."

Courtney's face relaxes and they laugh. "We make fun of him all the time for that, but it's his mom. She texts him all the time."

A wave of relief washes over my body. Spencer is single! So many thoughts start running through my head. Does this mean he likes me? Maybe he's not actually flirting with me. Do I have a chance? My mind is racing, but all I can say to respond to Courtney is "Huh."

"So are you coming or not?" Courtney asks, shaking my arm. "It'll be a nice little break from work."

I peer into my room and stare longingly at my bed. Sleep sounds like the perfect end to my long ass day. "Actually, Court, I'm staying home this time. But if you need me to pick you up, just call and I'll come get you. Do NOT drive home drunk." (seriously. don't.)

"Oh, trust me. I'll have a ride." Courtney smirks and gets up to leave. "I'll see you when I get home!" They shout over their shoulder.

I'm already on my way to my room.

This is going to be the best nap ever.
