It's currently lunch break but instead of going to the cafeteria like most of the students, you are here on your way to the senior's building. Jiwoo asked you to go with her to the cafeteria but you said you have some stomache ache and you need to go to the school clinic. It's a lie, of course. She was offering to go with you but thankfully, Lara, a member of the student's council, came and asked her to have some lunch with them. You assured her you'll be fine and she reluctantly left with her.
As you reach the building's 4th floor, you accidentally bumped into someone. The books he was holding fell to the floor. You quickly apologized and helped him with picking up the books.
You instantly recognized the boy as one of your classmates. You always see him in your classroom but you haven't talked to him in class since his seat is far away from yours and you just didn't have the chance to have a conversation. You don't even know if he knows you because his eyes is always fixed in his books almost everytime you see him.
"I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you," you apologized again as you hand him the last book that was on the floor.
"It's alright, it was an accident." His eyes almost disappeared as he give you his angelic smile. It's your first time having a close look of his face. You finally noticed his soft facial features. From his eyes that turns into a moon shape whenever he smiles to his pink plump lips. His light brown hair hiding half of his forehead. Not to mention his perfect smile. Damn, this boy is beautiful.
"Are you done checking me out?" His soft voice making you look at his eyes shocked that he knows you are checking him out. Is it that obvious? You can feel your cheeks getting hot from the embarrassment you are feeling right now.
"I-I'm not... I'm j-just.." you stutter not knowing what to say.
"I'm joking," he said as he laugh at your reaction. You know he isn't joking. He's probably saying that because he saw your flushed cheeks and don't want to embarrass you even more than you already are. Why did you even checked him out? Well, you didn't even notice yourself doing that. It's just an automatic reaction of humans after they see a beautiful creature.
"You're the scholarship student, right?" You sighed in relief as he change the subject.
"Yeah, I came from Busan," you replied and his eyes lit up.
"Really? I was from there too but my family moved here when I was a kid," he said to you and you replied with an 'oh'.
"I'm Jimin, by the way," he said pulling out his hand for you to shake.
"I'm Y/n," you smiled as you reach for his hand.
"Nice to meet you Y/n," he said as he give you that angelic smile again. He's so cute.
"Nice to meet you too, Jimin."
"I would like to chat with you more but I have to go and bring this books to our classroom. See you in class!" With that he walked away leaving you there. He doesn't seem as introverted as you thought he would be. He seems like the person who just keeps to himself because he's always quiet while reading his books most of the time. Well, don't judge a book by it's cover, they say.
After a few seconds, you walked at the opposite direction remembering the reason why you are here. As you reach the rooftoop, you are welcomed by the sight of someone, his back facing you. That grey hoodie, you instantly recognized who is it.
You slowly walked to his direction but still making some noise with every footsteps making him aware of your presence. You don't want to surprise him although that was exactly what he did to you yesterday.
"Hi," you greeted him as you stood beside him. Once again, he didn't reply. It made you think that you are bothering him for a second but then you heard him replied with a 'hello' in his usual low deep voice. His word was almost inaudible but still loud enough for you to hear.
"Do you always go here?" You asked with curiosity. You always see him here everyday since that day you saw him from your building's rooftop. You've been in this school for only a couple of days and maybe it's just a coincidence that he was here in those times but you just assumed it.
"Yes, it's my safe place," he said. His answer suddenly made you feel like you are invading his privacy by going here. Although this is the school's property, he claims it to be his place. It's like no one ever goes here except for him. It's just like those high school movies and TV shows where some students have their own secret place in their school. It can be an abandoned room, the janitor's closet, or an area where no one goes, just like this rooftop. A place where they can go whenever they get bored or just want to be alone.
"Am I bothering you?" you can't help but ask. If he doesn't want you here, you just want him to tell you. You will go instantly, if that is what he wants. You'll respect that.
"No, it's okay. You can stay whenever you want," he said and you sighed in relief. The two of you just stayed silent for a while. Thoughts flooded in your mind. You are thinking how will your school year go in this school. You're still adjusting to your new school and it's very different to what you are used to back in Busan.
This school is so much bigger than your old school. There are also some things in here that you don't have in your old school. Things around here are also nicer, like the buildings, classrooms, books, and more.
Everything around here is nice except that you start to miss your friends in Busan. You promised to stay in touch with each other but messaging and face timing is still different than seeing them in person. You're still thankful though, at least you have Jiwoo here to help you. She already helped you a lot in making your self familiar around here. And she's always there by your side whenever you need help or you're having a hard time in adjusting.
Beside your friends, you also miss you parents. You call each other almost everyday but you still crave for their presence. It's your first time being away from them and you're not yet used to them not being around but you just have to focus on your studies and hopefully time go by fast so you could see them again.
You looked at the boy beside you. You wonder what he is thinking right now. You have a view of his side profile and you don't really see any expression on his face. Then your focus shift to the hood that is hiding half of his face. Why does he always wear that grey hoodie? What is he hiding?
Suddenly, you found yourself lifting your hand, slowly reaching for that hoodie. You feel the need to remove the hood on his head. You want to know what's behind it. You want to see his face. And his eyes, you want to have a sight of it.
The tip of your fingers made contact with the soft material. But before you can hold it, he suddenly flinched and backed away, taking a few steps back from you. You looked at him surprised. You saw his jaw clenched and it made you realize what you've done. Did you cross the line?
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean t-" you tried to apologize feeling nervous but he beats you to it.
"Leave." He said in a loud but stern voice. The sound of it sending goosebumps to your body. You surely made him mad. You just stood there freezed on your spot, not knowing what to do. His tone is kind of scaring you.
"I said leave!" He shouted angrily making you flinch. You stepped back looking at him one last time then you ran away from there as fast as you can with your heart beating so fast.
