Eclipse stood nervously at the entrance of his new school, his black hoodie slightly wrinkled from the restless night he had. The building loomed large and unfamiliar, a stark contrast to the comforting halls of his old school. He took a deep breath and stepped inside, feeling the weight of dozens of curious eyes on him.

The principal, a kind-looking woman with greying hair, met him in the office. "Welcome, Eclipse. I'm Mrs. Thompson. I'll take you to your first class."

Eclipse nodded, as he followed her through the bustling corridors, feeling as though all eyes were on him. They reached a classroom, and Mrs. Thompson opened the door, leading him inside. The room fell silent as she addressed the teacher.

"Mr. Davis, this is Eclipse, our new student."

Mr. Davis, a tall man with glasses and a friendly smile, nodded. "Welcome, Eclipse. Please, introduce yourself."

Eclipse swallowed hard, glancing around the room. His eyes quickly spotted the same girl he had seen walking down his street. He also recognised a few of the others from that group.

"Hi, I'm Eclipse," he said quietly.

Mr. Davis smiled encouragingly. "Great to have you, Eclipse. You can take a seat anywhere you like."

Eclipse nodded and made his way to an empty desk near the group he recognised. As he settled in, he listened to their conversations, trying to gauge their personalities.

The girl with the black hair was named Ash. She spoke with a calm, confident tone, and her friends seemed to respect her. A boy named Stripes, with blonde hair and a denim jacket, was clever and ambitious, often making witty remarks that made the others laugh. There was also Pine, a friendly yet quiet boy who seemed to keep the group together.

Throughout the day, Eclipse attended his standard high school classes—maths, science, English, and history. He listened intently but kept to himself, feeling the awkwardness of being the new kid. During lunch, he found a quiet corner in the cafeteria, eating alone and observing the interactions around him.

As the final bell rang, Eclipse packed up his things and walked home, the afternoon sun casting long shadows on the pavement. His mind buzzed with everything he had experienced, the new faces, and the unfamiliar routines.

When he reached home, Rose was waiting for him in the kitchen. She looked up from her cooking, her eyes filled with concern and curiosity. "How was your first day, Eclipse?"

Eclipse shrugged, placing his bag on the floor. "It was... okay, I guess. The classes are fine, and I recognised some of the people from the street."

Rose smiled gently. "That's good to hear. I'm sure it'll get better once you get to know them."

Eclipse nodded, appreciating her optimism but still feeling the weight of the day's events. "Yeah, maybe."

Rose walked over and gave him a hug. "I'm proud of you for getting through the day. It's not easy starting over."

Eclipse returned the hug, feeling a bit of the tension ease from his shoulders. "Thanks, Mom."

As the evening wore on, Eclipse settled into his new room, reflecting on the day. It hadn't been as bad as he had feared, but it was still daunting. He glanced out the window, wondering what the next day would bring and hoping that, in time, he might find his place in this new environment.
