The following day, Bailey went to see Nancy and Jonathan. Bailey reluctantly agreed to the new approach they had devised to resolve any mishaps in the old plan... they would be prepared this time. They were going to save Hawkins as well as Will and Barb.

Everything they would require was available at a hunting store. Even if it wasn't much, they were certain that it would be sufficient. Nancy had a canister of gasoline and both Jonathan and Bailey carried a box when they came out of the store.

"Monster hunting?'' Jonathan asked, and Nancy gave a slight smile in response. Bailey felt like a third wheel once more. however, he couldn't help but sense that something was developing between the two, even if he kept this to himself.

''You know, last week...I was shopping for a new top I thought Steve might like. It took me and Barb all weekend. It seemed like life or death, you know? And... and now—'' Nancy sighed as she placed the gasoline in the trunk.

''You're shopping for bear traps with Jonathan Byers and Bailey Cameron.'' The boy shrugged back at the two teenagers who turned to face him. Nancy, as far as he could tell, had not even looked Jonathan in the eye till now.

"Since I was homeschooled before coming here, you're the only people I really interact with outside of Chrissy." Bailey remarked, a tiny grin appearing on his face.

A automobile was driving down the street and it honked at the group to get their attention. It then slowed down. 'Hey, Nance! Can't wait to see your movie.'' His voice had a patronizing tone. Bailey's brows knitted. Nancy's gaze fell as she watched the automobile drive away, as if she was thinking about something. She was running towards the Hawkins movie theater in no time. Jonathan immediately followed her off without pausing for thought.

"What just happened?" Bailey wondered himself as he started to flee. making every effort to catch up with them.

Bailey noticed the red spray-painted lettering on the movie theater as he sprinted until he could see it clearly. It said there on the sign, All the right movies starring Nancy the Slut Wheeler A mixture of perplexity, fury, and sympathy raced through his mind.  Why would someone harm someone that deeply and with such cruelty?

As he saw Nancy begin to storm off in one direction, he looked across at Jonathan, and the two of them immediately followed. Both of them witnessed Nancy slap Steve across the face, generating a gasp from everyone in the vicinity. Bailey knew right away that Steve and his friends were the ones who had carried it out.

''What is wrong with you?'' Nancy questioned, her voice brimming with a range of feelings.

''What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you?'' Steve answered with an equally bitter tone. ''I was worried about you. I can't believe that I was actually worried about you.''

''What are you talking about?' 'Nancy questioned, giving a headshake.

''I wouldn't lie if I were you. You don't want to be known as the lying slut now, do you?'' Carol moved closer to Nancy and said something. Bailey gave her a glance.

"Aww, see, the freak and the party pooper really do care about her, they must both be doing her behind your back, Steve." Tommy said as he descended. Steve's ego slightly diminished when he looked up and saw Bailey's face.

"You came over last night?" Nancy questioned aloud.

''Ding! Ding! Ding! Does she get a prize?'' Bailey couldn't take the expression on either of their faces as Carol giggled and drew in closer to Tommy.

''Look, I don't know what you think you saw, but it wasn't like that.'' Nancy said, attempting to diffuse the tension.

''What, you just let him into your room to... study?'' He cocked his head to the side as he inquired.

''Or for another pervy photo session?'' Tommy queried, and they all burst out laughing as though he had said something amusing.

''We were just—'' Nancy began.

''You were just what? Finish that sentence.'' Bailey was aware that she couldn't reveal all the details, but if Steve really knew Nancy, he would realize that she wasn't having an affair. Nancy could not say anything, so he just gave her a disgusted look. '' Go to hell, Nancy.''

''Come on, guys, Let's just leave.'' Jonathan pleaded and grabbed hold of them both before anything bad occurred. Nancy was less inclined to go with Jonathan. Bailey was struggling to get words out. He knew he had no right to speak, but leaving was simply the winning move.

"You're a real piece of shit." Bailey said, drawing attention from everyone, "You're just some pathetic, insecure little boy who finds it funny to hurt people because you think they're less than you—that's really embarrassing for you."

Steve glanced at him, slightly taken aback by what Bailey had just said, not realizing the boy had it in him. "Oh dam," Tommy exclaimed.

"Let's just go." All three of them turned around, but Steve wasn't done, He approached Jonathan from behind and gave him the hardest push he could.

''You know what, Byers? I'm actually kind of impressed. I always took you for a queer, but I guess you're just a little screw-up like your father.'' Steve remarked, pressing him once more.

''Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that house is full of screw-ups. You know, I guess I shouldn't really be surprised. A bunch of screw-ups in your family. I mean, your mom..."

Nancy sensed Jonathan halt, which caused Bailey to also cease moving. Bailey turned around and realised what was going to happen, he took a small step back because, well, Steve was pressing anyone's buttons.

"I'm not even surprised what happened to your brother." Steve laughed, shoving Jonathan's shoulder. "I'm sorry to tell you this, but the Byers, their family, it's a disgrace to the entire..."

He didn't get a chance to finish his sentence before Jonathan twisted around and gave him a straight blow to the jaw. and for a few second he was shocked, and then he threw himself directly upon Jonathan. The two had hit each other and wrestled on the ground.

"Kick his ass, man!"

"Cops!" The moment they heard sirens and a police car pull up into the alleyway, someone from Steve's group let out a cry. While Tommy and Carol attempted to help Steve get up, Nancy yelled for Jonathan to get up. When the police attempted to pursue Jonathan, they all fled.

As Jonathan was handcuffed. they watched in horror as the other people fled, acting like cowards. Nancy was filled with remorse as she stood there. Bailey tenderly grasped her shoulders and did his best to console her.

"It's okay, everything will be okay"
