2The shopping was a boring event. For most kids, being on Diagon Ally is a magical event, no matter how many times they've been. This is only Cassiopeia's fourth time being here, but she just can't find the joy in it.
The crisp air swirls through her hair as she walks around the town with her two older brothers on each side. Their parents were trailing a bit behind them, watching and making sure they did nothing to misbehave.
They went through each and every store, getting the things they all needed for their separate years. Cassiopeia felt a little stupid, getting all the books for the first years. She knew it was because she was a first year, but seeing her two older brothers get the higher level books just made her feel inferior.
They went to the queue to pay. Cassiopeia heard a loud family chattering behind her in line. She sometimes wishes she and her brother were allowed to behave as freely as they'd like, but she couldn't dwell on that because she felt something bump into her back.
All three siblings turned at the same time, all having a different reaction. Sirius started grinning like a maniac, Regulus looked annoying as he rolled his eyes, and Cassiopeia just looked confused.
Sirius says something like, "Prongsie!", but the boy doesn't tear his eyes away from Cassiopeia. He's cute, she thinks. He's seems tall for his age–which seems to be the same as Sirius's. He has dark skin, dark hair, but the most striking blue eyes you'd ever seen. It looked almost unnatural.
The boy gives her a small smile. "Sorry. Didn't mean to bump into you there."
"Oh, uh, it's fine." Cassiopeia says, not exactly understanding why her stomach started to hurt.
The boy goes to open his mouth again, but a sharp clearing of a throat snaps her attention to her mother. The boy frowns at the look in Cassiopeia's eyes as her mother sets her with a hard glare. Cassiopeia spares him one last glance before she turns to the front again.
After they checkout and leave, they start walking back down so they can, as the books were the last thing they needed. Cassiopeia's brown Barn Owl screeches behind her.
Sirius walks up beside her, setting her with a suspicious look.
Cassiopeia furrows her brows at her brother. "What?"
"What was that?"
Now she is extremely confused. "What was what?"
"You know what I mean. With James earlier?"
"Have you gone insane? Who is James?"
Sirius groans. "The boy in the Florish and Blotts."
"Oh. What about him?"
"The way you two looked at each other! It was gross!"
"You're being dramatic. All he did was apologize for bumping into me."
Sirius narrows his eyes.* "Sure. I'm going to be keeping an eye on you two."
Cassiopeia rolls her eyes. They go back to their home in silence.
