Annie drags me into her room the next day. She insisted that we get ready together and throw the boys out.
"Aren't you excited?" She asks, practically jumping with joy.
"I guess," I say. I never liked parties; it was my sister's thing.
"I guess," she says, taking my words and continuing the sentence, "I'll have to give you an amazing outfit! Then you'll be excited."
I plop onto her bed and say, "Okay."
I prepared myself for a fashion show. I had to borrow one of her dresses because I didn't bring any. I never expected that I'd be going to a party.
Annie opens her closet. It was all pink and yellow. Light colours that suited her personality well.
I walk to the closet, running my hand between the hangers.
"Got any other colours?"
She grins widely, the way Dash always does. He was rubbing off on her more than ever.
Annie skips to the other side of the closet; it had other colours, but only one of them stuck out to me.
The dress was the perfect length, long sleeves, and the same colour as my ring.
I looked at it, shining on my finger. This one was perfect.
Annie catches on, staring at the ring.
"He gave you that?!" She almost screamed. "That's so cute! You have to wear the ring and the dress!"
I laughed; I was planning on it.
"Since you chose my outfit, I'll help you choose yours."
I go back to her two-coloured closet and flip through the yellow dresses. Knowing Dash, he probably has the same kind of stash of yellow clothing, and he would probably wear yellow.
I picked out a cute, flowy yellow dress.
"Oh! Yay!" She smiles and says, "Let's get ready."
I go change in the bathroom as Annie changes in her room.
I look in the mirror. I saw myself, but also my mother, father, and sister.
People said we looked alike; you could tell we were a family, but it wasn't like that now.
I step out, taking in Annie's stunning appearance.
"You look amazing, Maddie," Annie squeals.
"You too," I say, smirking. "Dash is going to be stunned."
She blushes. "Not just yet," she says, holding up a finger. "We need to do makeup, accessories, and shoes." She thinks, like she's forgetting something. "And hair!"
I couldn't help but laugh. Annie reminded me of one of those fairies from a Barbie movie.
She had great style, and she knew exactly how to dress others. Not to mention her makeup skills.
Thirty minutes later, we had finished getting ready.
She curled her hair and left it out, but for me, she put my hair in a half-up, half-down, curling my hair.
I let Annie do my makeup—lipstick and subtle eyeliner. I loved how she didn't make me look like someone else. I looked like me, but pretty.
She did light makeup on herself; I almost ruined her yellow eyeshadow when she asked me to help her, but good thing I knew when to stop and knew how to fix it. We just laughed it off.
