We walk through the island of Upolu, Samoa. The hot sun is beating down on us, it's so bright it's hard to see clearly. We come to a stop and we all line up next to our loved ones, I raise my gaze to meet my boyfriend Ravi's eyes, whose hand is locked in with mine. He gives me a reassuring smile, squeezing my hand.

The host, Jonathan LaPaglia, JLP as he is sometimes known. Is standing a few feet away from us, facing us, hands on hips staring at us all with a serious expression on his face.

"Welcome to Australian Survivor Blood v Water" he shouts confidently breaking out into a grin. Everyone cheers excitedly, clapping. I get a shiver down my spine as he moves his eyes across the line of this year's contestants, it's all starting to feel real now.

"Well usually survivor is about making and breaking bonds with a group of strangers but this is blood v water, which means you are going to start this game with a loved one someone who you know and who you can trust. Which is a huge advantage in this game but it can also be a disadvantage because you care about them so that makes you vulnerable. You might let your guard down or they might even know how to manipulate you, leaving the real possibility of being that the person who sends you home could actually be standing right beside you." Everyone looks at their loved ones trying to reassure each other. Ravi puts his hands on my shoulders pulling me in closer to him.

"Well the good news is you will be experiencing survivor with a loved one, the bad news is..." Oh god as he says that a pit grows in my stomach, I know that there is a chance me and Ravi will end up being split up into opposite tribes but I just hope it doesn't come to that, as I don't know what the hell I will do if I have to do this alone. I know what Jonathan is about to say but I am still dreading what is about to come out of his mouth next. "You're going to be playing against them" Everyone stares at Jonathan in shock.

Fuck I knew it I am screwed I would have at least had a chance of surviving with Ravi by my side but on my own, I got no chance, I am a nervous wreck right now. I'm trying to hide it the best I can but I am not sure I am doing a great job of it. I am literally shaking with nerves right now.

"So say goodbye to your loved one, if you are on my left I want you to move over here," he says pointing over to his left "And if you're on my right I want you to move over here," he says pointing to his right. I am on the right and Ravi is on the left.

Everyone hugs their loved one and says goodbye moving over to their tribes. Ravi gives me a quick hug leaning into me "You got this ok you're going to be fine" he says quietly trying to reassure me but I can see the worry in his brown eyes. He pulls away and we walk over to our separate tribes.

As I stand with the other people on my tribe, Jonathan throws each tribe a package, "You are going to be needing these, your buffs, red representing the blood element of the game" he pauses looking at the other tribe as they pass around the red buffs to each other. "And blue representing the water element of the game" his eyes moving over to my tribe as they start handing out the blue buffs.
