a new hire

it was a decently normal day for the staff at Kimetsu academy. a wild kid being chased down the hall by a teacher with stick, another kid getting rocket bottles blasted at them for no reason.. yeh pretty normal.

in the staff room were a few teachers, some on break and others making lesson plans. one of these teachers was the biology teacher, Kanae Kocho. most students loved having her as a teacher as not only was she a great teacher but she had a gorgeous face. she had gotten notice that a new staff would be joining the school, she was quite excited as she was told to give them a tour of the school before their first day and she loved making new friends.

"you look quite spaced out, thinking of something? someone maybe?" a tall man loomed over her. "oh! Tengen! yeh sorry, we're getting a new teacher and i've been asked to give them a tour.." Kanae looked away from Tengen and out the window of the staff room. "a new member?? whens the last time we've got a new staff member!? you have to tell us who!".

soon all eyes were focused on Kanae, it wasn't common for new staff to join the school due to its reputation of having.. bizarre students. "aha, well i dont know much myself. im sorry to disappoint!" kanae waved her hands trying to dismiss any unwanted attention from her. "sureee~ keep all the secrets to yourself.." tengen rolled his eyes before walking towards the small kitchen area in the staff room.

"coffee is ready!" a loud shout came from the kitchen area, it was rengoku. he had just finished making coffee for the staff. tengen took his mug and drank from it, making an exaggerated "ahh" sound afterwards. "thanks rengoku!" kanae said, standing up from her seat and making her way towards the kitchen area. as she walked, the faint sound of a bell ringing was heard. "seems its lunch now huh?" rengoku said, sipping from his coffee. "finally, i need a break!" tengen sighed and put his mug down before stretching his arms and yawning. "you just had a break!" kanae teased and grabbed her mug from the coffee machine.

as the 3 chatted away, foot steps could be heard approaching the staff room door. soon, the door swung open and a moody chemistry teacher entered inside, huffing as he removed his lab coat. "tough class huh?" said tengen, looking at iguros exasperated face. "inosuke.." iguro muttered under his breath, his slumped into the couch and practically melted into it. "oh, him.." rengoku attempted to laugh slightly, though it ended up sounding quite loud,. "its always inosuke huh?" kanae giggled. inosuke was quite a troubled student, he's always in detention for doing the stupidest things like making holes in the wall or blowing up the labs.

"yo, obanai. did you about the new hire?" said tengen, still drinking from his mug. "hah, who would want to work in this disaster of a school?" obanai huffed before rolling his eyes. "whats that supposed to mean?" tengen said with an exaggerated offended expression plastered on his face. "well all i know is that he's a math teacher" kanae chimed in. "i thought you didnt know anything!" tengen looked back at her and crossed his arms. "whoops!" kanae knocked her head, "guess i forgot about that".

obanai was walking home from school, he always took a shortcut through the alley which was near a small pizza shop. he'd often eat out there and there was a cute girl working there that he'd always look for. "obanai!" a cheerful girl ran up to him and greeted him. "oh.. hey mitsuri. what are you doing here, shouldn't you be working?" obanai looked at the bright girl with a puzzled look. mitsuri was an art graduate and often worked at the pizza shop as a waitress and delivery driver. "nope! i quit!" she smiled. "you WHAT??!" obanai looked disappointed at the news. his favourite part about the pizza shop was getting to talk to mitsuri about his day. "i got a new apartment and unfortunately i cant work here anymore! but dont worry, you'll still see me around~" she clasped her hands together. "oh, alright then. well im happy for you, congrats on the new apartment.." he was clearly upset by this move but knowing that he'll see her made him cheer up a little. "im on my way to the bus stop so i should get going..! nice seeing you obanai!" and with that, mitsuri walked towards the bus stop but not before looking back at iguro and waving.

obanai kept walking down the alley way, stopping every so often to check the time or make sure nothing was stolen due to these parts being quite sketchy, when all of a sudden he bumped into a tall figure. "watch it!" said the tall white haired man. "how about you watch it!" obanai retaliated back at the guy, regretting his decision almost immediately as he looked up to see the scarred faced man. he wasn't trying to get beat up on his way home, he had already had a tough enough day at school. "sorry, ive had a tough day.." obanai muttered, trying to save himself from a possible beat up. "no worries.. i guess" the guy huffed and nudged obanai before walking down the path away from obanai. obanai sighed in relief.

once obanai was at his house, he set all his stuff down and checked his phone. 2 notifications. one from his mother and another from the teacher group chat. he wasnt close with his mother at all and has tried to go no contact but shes quite stubborn. he ignores his mothers messaged and clicked on the group chat.

obanai turned his phone off and put it on charge, he didnt want to deal with whatever the group chat wanted from him. he took off his jumper and school uniform before changing into a shirt with some shorts. nothing special. "kaburamaru~ its feeding time" he said, walking towards his snake enclosure. wrapped around a branch was an albino Japanese rat snake, it hissed at obanai as it heard his owner call. "thats a good boy!" obanai said, grabbing a mouse from his freezer and feeding to to kaburamaru. he loved his snake, more than anything. it was given to him by his cousin before she passed. he watched as kaburamaru swallowed the mice whole before letting out a small hiss of contentment.
