∞༺♥༻✧
POE MCKENNA IS A GHOST OF NICO ROSBERG'S PAST. Locked away in a box, in the darkest depths beyond his reach, the memories from what they were, what they once had. Nico knows for a fact that box that he's now forgotten so long ago must be covered in dust and cobwebs, stored away in the attic of his mind. He had kept it there for years, not knowing if he could ever let it resurface.

Let what resurface?

The pain, the heartbreak, the old memories, what should have been. They were happy. And now all of that was ripped away from him as quickly as it came, sharp claws digging in, wrapped around his heart and lungs, squeezing and tearing him apart from the inside out until he could no longer feel pain and no longer breathe.

There's a void in the cavity of his chest. This large, gaping hole in his heart where he's missing a piece of himself. A part of him he could never get back. Nico knows that. He knows it can't be fixed. Poe is gone. He's not coming back. The first love of his life, taken from him too soon. He's never seeing him again, not when Poe McKenna's dropped off the face of the earth and when he tries to call, the line goes straight to voicemail. Every. Single. Time. Nico's not even sure a person is even there anymore. If there was, they would have answered after the first ring. If there was, they would have talked about their day for hours and hours until it was sunrise and they were too exhausted to hang up. If there was, Nico and Poe would still be together.

Nico tries to forget, but it only makes the memories come flooding back, crashing over him in waves and carrying him far away from shore, bringing him under the surface, water filling his lungs until he's suffocating, drowning in that despair.
