Lita lay alone in her bed that night, thinking and wondering how she had ended up here. She and Paul had been on good terms for a while, but it had all shattered in an instant. She didn't know what to say to him. Maybe a simple message or call could have mended the break, but she continued to lie there, the quiet echo of the night trying its best to lull her to sleep.

The cold confines of her sheets offered no comfort, so when she heard the quiet sound of something hitting her window, it didn't immediately cause her to jump. Turning over, her head still glued to her pillow, she waited. There it was again—a 'click'—and again, until it caused her to lazily roll out of bed to find the source of the noise.

Pulling back her thin, sheer curtains, she saw a small pebble hit her window, causing her to jump back. Looking down, she saw the grinning faces of Jacob and Embry. Her brows furrowed as she tried to make out the words they were saying while Embry excitedly jumped up and down, waving his arms.

Lifting her window, she could finally hear the words pouring out of their mouths. "Lita!" Embry yelled. "Let us in!" Jacob yelled from below the window. Lita's brows furrowed. "What the hell, no!" she said, shutting the window.
