Smoke choked the air of the once idyllic village of Elmwood. Flames danced a macabre waltz across the wooden houses, licking hungrily at the night sky. Screams, punctuated by sickening thuds, echoed through the deserted streets. In the heart of the chaos, a monstrous figure wreaked havoc.
The once vibrant village square lay in ruins, flames licking at the charred remains of homes. The monster moved with a chilling efficiency, his faces devoid of emotion as he hunted down the fleeing villagers.
The monster was none other than a Hellan also known as a human clone. Towering at a colossal nine feet, clad in gleaming white armor, the clone was a grotesque parody of a knight. Muscles bulged like overinflated balloons beneath the polished metal, and his face, hidden beneath a visor, radiated a sense of chilling indifference. This was no ordinary soldier; he was a harbinger of death, a living embodiment of the Codes Federation's iron fist.
Tadya, a young woman in her early 30s. Her hair was brown and aged of auburn. She shoved two wide-eyed girls towards a crumbling alleyway. "Go, go!" she rasped, desperation clawing at her voice. Smoke stung Tadyas' nostrils.
Suddenly, the ground seemed to shudder under Tadya's feet. The Hellan lunged, his reach surpassing anything humanly possible. Just when it seemed he would engulf her whole, a searing beam of light pierced the darkness. The sound of screeching metal filled the air as the clone's massive hand detached and clattered to the cobblestones.
Tadya spun around, her gaze falling upon three figures perched on a half-collapsed rooftop. Relief washed over her like a tidal wave. There, bathed in the flickering orange glow of the fires, stood the Grid's most potent weapon - Lazer Squad.
Leading the trio was Lazer Grim, a man forged in the fires of rebellion. His ebony skin gleamed beneath the specialized cyber armor that augmented his strength and speed. At his side stood Lazer Vax, a charismatic Latino with a mischievous glint in his eyes. His attire was an unorthodox mix of street clothes and protective gear, a testament to his resourcefulness. Completing the formation was Lazer Roth, a woman of steely determination with an agile physique that belied her deceptive strength. Her sleek armor mimicked a second skin, affording her the freedom of movement necessary for her lightning-fast attacks.
Each held a laser rifle, their barrels burning with a ferocious energy that promised retribution. The giant clone roared, a sound that shook the very buildings, and lunged at the squad with a vengeance. The battle was about to begin.
The clone giant, enraged by the severed hand, roared a sound that rattled windows a block away. With a metallic whirring sound, a massive broadsword materialized in its grasp, shimmering with the promise of untold carnage. The Grids reacted instantly. A barrage of laser fire erupted from their rifles, the beams carving angry red lines in the air. The giant, surprisingly agile for its size, twisted and weaved with surprising grace, deflecting most of the blasts off its armor.
"Grim, get the girl!" Lazer Vax shouted, his voice laced with a hint of amusement even in the face of such a monstrous foe. Lazer Grim, ever the pragmatist, didn't waste words. He shot towards Tadya, scooped her up with a surprising strength that sent a blush creeping up her cheeks. "Thank you," she stammered, momentarily flustered.
Lazer Roth, a whirlwind of black armor and blazing pistols, unleashed a hail of laser fire into the giant's exposed chest. The beams ripped through its flesh, searing a black crater of pain. The giant shrieked, the metallic clang of its voice almost comical despite the situation. "Inferiors must be eliminated!" it bellowed, swinging the massive sword down in a furious arc.
Lazer Roth, a blur of movement, danced beneath the blow. Her small frame made her a nearly impossible target. As the blade slammed into the ground with a force that shook the street, she capitalized on the opening. In a move honed from countless drills, she rolled underneath the giant's legs and unleashed twin laser blasts into its exposed Achilles heel. The mechanical joint crumpled with a whine, the giant crashing to its knees with a deafening boom.
