Ethan stood on a hill overlooking the flourishing village he had helped build. The crops swayed in the breeze, the houses were sturdy and well-constructed, and the demihumans he had saved were thriving. But despite the sense of accomplishment, a question had been nagging at him: were there other villages or kingdoms in this world? Was there more to discover beyond the borders of their little paradise?
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Ethan gathered Aria and Elara. The flickering firelight cast warm shadows across their faces.
"I've been thinking," Ethan began, his voice filled with determination. "I want to explore this world further. There must be other villages, other kingdoms out there. I want to become an adventurer and see what else is out there."
Aria and Elara exchanged worried glances. "You can't go alone," Aria said firmly. "We should come with you."
Elara nodded in agreement. "We've grown strong together, Ethan. We won't let you face the unknown by yourself."
Ethan sighed, knowing they wouldn't take no for an answer. "Alright," he conceded. "But we need to prepare. We'll need supplies, and we'll have to be ready for anything."
Over the next few days, they prepared for their journey. They gathered food, weapons, and other supplies, loading everything onto a sturdy wagon. Ethan would drive, with Aria and Elara beside him, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
On the third day, they set off at dawn. The journey was long and arduous, but they pressed on, driven by a shared sense of purpose. As they approached the distant border of a kingdom, a massive wall loomed before them, its stone surface bathed in the golden light of the setting sun.
Ethan brought the wagon to a stop in front of the gate, where two guards stood watch. One of the guards stepped forward, eyeing them suspiciously. "Do you have any identification?" he asked gruffly. "If not, you'll need to pay five bronze coins for entrance."
Ethan felt a pang of realization; he had no ID, nor any bronze coins. He looked at the guard, thinking quickly. "Am I allowed to enter and pay you later? I'm signing up as an adventurer."
The guard raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, you're allowed, but you must pay the due by tomorrow. But are you sure, kid, you want to be an adventurer? You look pretty weak. HAHAHAHA!"
Everyone laughed, and Ethan felt his cheeks flush. He forced a smile. "Yeah, you're right. I'm weak, but I'll try anyway."
The guard shrugged, waving them through. Ethan guided the wagon through the gate, entering the bustling city. He was stunned by the sight before him: a massive castle stood at the center, its towers reaching toward the sky. The streets were filled with villagers, all of whom seemed happy and content.
Ethan stopped a passerby. "Excuse me, is there an adventurer guild around here?"
The stranger nodded and pointed down the street. "Yes, just follow this road, and you'll see it on the left. It's a large building with a sign. You can't miss it."
"Thank you," Ethan said, nodding gratefully. He led the wagon down the street, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. When they reached the adventurer guild, he was momentarily taken aback by the grandeur of the place. It was a large, imposing structure, bustling with activity. Adventurers of all shapes and sizes milled about, chatting, drinking, and exchanging stories.
As Ethan and his companions entered, a hush fell over the room. All eyes turned to them, and Ethan could feel the weight of their stares. It was clear they were impressed by the beauty of Aria and Elara, and many assumed they were his party members.
A cocky adventurer, with a smug grin plastered on his face, sauntered over to them. He eyed Aria and Elara with a leer. "Hey there, ladies. Do you want to join my party? I'm a Rank C adventurer, I can protect you." He reached out to touch Elara, his intentions clear.
