Ethan, Aria, and Elara stood outside the bustling Adventurers Guild, their newly acquired B-rank badges glinting in the morning sun. They had climbed the ranks with remarkable speed and skill, earning the respect of their peers and superiors alike. But now, with their latest promotion achieved, Ethan felt a pull towards home, a yearning for the simpler life they had left behind.
"We've come a long way," Ethan said, looking at his companions. "But I think it's time we head back to the village. We've got responsibilities there too."
Aria and Elara exchanged glances, both nodding in agreement. They too missed the tranquility of their home and the bonds they had formed with the villagers and tamed creatures.
"I agree," Aria said, her voice soft but firm. "We've done what we set out to do. It's time to go back."
Elara smiled warmly. "Let's pack up and head out then."
The journey back to their village was filled with a mix of nostalgia and reflection. The path they had taken to become adventurers had been arduous and rewarding, filled with battles, discoveries, and friendships. As they traveled, they shared stories and laughed about their past exploits, the camaraderie between them strengthening with every step.
On the third day of their journey, as they were making their way through a dense forest, the system notification abruptly popped up before Ethan's eyes:
Quest 7: Save The Princess Reward: +10 Levels and Healing Magic
Before he could fully process the message, a piercing scream echoed through the trees. Ethan's instincts kicked in immediately.
"Did you hear that?" Ethan asked, his voice tense.
Aria and Elara nodded, their expressions serious. "It came from deeper in the forest," Elara said, already moving towards the sound.
They sprinted through the trees, their senses on high alert. As they neared the source of the scream, they saw a scene of chaos. A group of assassins had surrounded a young woman dressed in regal clothing, her guards lying lifeless on the ground around her. The princess was on her knees, desperately trying to fend off her attackers.
Ethan didn't hesitate. "We need to save her, now!"
He charged into the fray, his sword flashing as he engaged the first assassin. Aria and Elara followed suit, their magic and arrows cutting down the enemies with precision. The assassins, caught off guard by the sudden attack, fell one by one under the trio's assault.
"Stay behind me!" Ethan shouted to the princess as he parried a blow meant for her.
The fight was fierce but swift. Ethan's combat skills, combined with Aria's magic and Elara's archery, quickly turned the tide. Within minutes, the assassins lay defeated, the forest silent once more.
Quest Completed
The system notification flashed before Ethan's eyes, and he felt a surge of energy as his levels increased. A new skill also manifested within him: Healing Magic.
He turned to the princess, who was visibly shaken but unharmed. "Are you alright?" he asked gently.
The princess nodded, tears streaming down her face. "Thank you... Thank you so much. They... they killed all my guards..."
Ethan placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You're safe now. Let me heal your wounds."
Channeling his newly acquired Healing Magic, Ethan mended the princess's injuries. She gasped as her cuts and bruises faded away, replaced by smooth, unblemished skin.
