Chapter 9

*Wes POV*

I woke up to sounds of sniffles and looked around the room to try to figure where I am. All I remember is me and Ray going to the trap then going to check on a shipment then everything went dark. I tried to move my leg and when I did whoever was crying on me pop their head up. I looked over and saw Jai kneeling next to my bed. Then I realized I must be in the hospital.

"Jai, baby stop crying. She ran over and grabbed my hand. she cleared her throat before she spoke.

"Wes don't scare me like that I thought you'd never wake up. Here she go being dramatic, I thought.

"Jai baby, Id never leave you or Jadabug.

Just then Shay walked in. Her eyes were red and there were streaks of dried tears on her face.

"Shay how's Ray, Jai asked running over giving her a hug.

"Well Ray is fine now the bullet missed anything important. The doctor said he'll be fine just a little sore. She looked over at me.

"how's this big baby, she giggled at her attempt to be funny.

Jai laughed with her and then answered. "The doctor hasn't come in yet but he's fine trust me. I perked up when I heard a knock at the door.

"hello I'm Dr.Ely and you must be Mr.Westen White.

"Yeah that's me but hey listen doc when do you think I could possibly get out of here.

"well after someone signs these discharge papers but do you mind telling me how you ended up with a bullet to the chest. Here we go a nosy doctor that needs to mind his business.

"Well sir I wish I knew. With that he nodded his head and walked out. When the doc came back Jai signed the discharge papers and we rolled out.

On the car ride to Jai's mom's house the ride was almost silent until Jai spoke up.

"Wes I know you know who shot you and why."

Now here she go asking questions. "Jai, I really don't think you should worry. I kept my eyes on the road but I could tell she was staring at me still and that shit is creepy as fuck.

"Jai don't fucking stare at me."well then answer my fucking question.

"Fine you big baby, me and Ray had to check on a shipment so we did but when we should up we were jumped by some of Zeros boys but it was an ambush and it happened all so fast. I managed to shoot one of the bastards but I think I only got him in the leg.

Okay and now Ray is probably ordering a hit on them so we don't have to worry about them

. Now go run in there and get my baby cause you know your momma don't like me.

"Come on Wes get out. I rolled my eyes and headed towards her moms front door.

"Umm Wes pull your pants up. you know how my momma is.

"This is why I wanted to stay in the car I know how ya momma is.

Jai's step-dad who really hates me opened the door and let us in.

Jai really doesn't like him still even after all these years I guess it's cause she feels he took her daddy's place.

Jai:Hey Ralo

Ralo: you can't call me dad

Jai: You ain't my dad tho

Ralo: I see you brought this hooligan

Jai: You mean my boyfriend and daughters father

Ralo: Don't get smart

Jai: Move Ralo
