"Good morning, Banzi wam," i find Zulu staring at me. "What is wrong, Zulu?" He pulls me back to sleep, preventing me from getting off the covers. " Can't we just sleep the whole and enjoy each other's company? By the way, I love it when you call me Banzi wakho."
He smiles and blushes if men do blush. "You seem to forget that your mother is visiting us today. What do you think I should cook? What should I wear? What is your mother's favorite dress?" I am so frustrated.
"Hold on for a second." Zulu shut my mouth with his fingers and answered his phone call. "I will be with you just now." That's what I believe I heard. How can Zulu plan to leave me in this kind of a situation.
"I am sorry, love, my friend is in danger. I promise to come right before mom steps her foot inside our door house." He kisses my forehead and takes his track suits and leaves.
How can he do this to me? I fix the bed, teeth, and bath. After not so long, I walk down to the kitchen. I take out the ingredients, flour, carrots, yeast, sugar, potatoes, and more vegetables. I will need to prepare oxtail. I am preparing steamed bread and oxtail.
The weather today makes me crave a steamed bread with oxtail. It will be sad if she has allergies prior to this meal. I will feel bad even though Zulu did not hint me about her at all. It does not help that she told us yesternight that she is coming today.
More worst, Zulu did not tell me what to cook and a clue about her except that she was going to like me. That's what Zulu said, and if she doesn't like me or likes my food, I will go back to my family.
After I am done, I go to refresh in a shower because I smell like food. I was disturbed from lying down by knock. I hoped I could rest for a little bit, but I guess his mother couldn't wait like I can't wait for this day to end. I am so nervous.
I quickly head down, I am wearing a floral long yellow dress and white sandals. "I am coming." I shout towards the door. Opening the door, I met a whole classy elegant woman in front of me.
If I were to meet this woman with Zulu without knowing her, I would think they are dating. She looks absolutely fine. I feel so small in her presence, but I have to embrace myself. I heard mother in laws have a way to press you down if you act small in their presence.
Hear me saying mother in law. "Uhm, where are my manners come on in Ma." I clear my throat after staring at this woman for long that I forgot I have to open for her. "I have been wanting to meet the woman who is the owner of my son's heart, after me, of course."
She fans herself, dramatic Zulu's mom. I hope I won't be fighting position in Zulu's life with her, though. "I am Gladys Zulu. You are so beautiful with your flawless skin. So perfect for my son, I now see the jewel he als sees."
She is not bad, I withdraw all the bad things I thought of her to be. "Thank you, Ma. Zulu was supposed to be here. Let me check on him. You may have a seat. I will be with you just now." She sits down. This woman screams glassy and rich.
I sigh, frustrated and worried. "He is not answering his phone, I am worried he should be here now." His mother looked nothing like me. She was not worried at all. "I am happy you care about my son. He must be busy right now. He told me he won't be able to join us. I thought he told you."
Dammit Zulu, why did he not tell me? "It must have slipped my mind. He did tell me." I hate it when I lie, and I hope she does not see I am lying as for Zulu. He will sleep on the couch. "So it's us ladies, come on, we will enjoy. How about we start this fun with a bottle of wine."
Oh my gosh, I love this woman. We are right off without Zulu. But who will protect me when her question gets tense? I know I am about to go through trial with her. I am not looking for 'What are your intentions with my son' questions.
