After breakfast, Rory immediately went down to the marketplace. It was just as busy and chaotic as the day before. She zipped in between the vendors, leaping over fallen fruits and weaving between customers, who were buying large amounts of artifacts, crystals, and magical objects.

When she got back to what looked like the main road Bluejay had lead her down the day before, she scanned around for the stall she saw yesterday. She spotted what seemed to be the same man, but the stall looked different, and the sword was no longer on display. Rory walked up to his stand rather sheepishly, not being entirely sure if this was the man she'd seen the day before. He was standing absolutely still behind the counter, seemingly staring into infinite space.

"Hi," she said. "Um, sorry to bother you. I came to the marketplace yesterday, and I think I remember you had a sword for sale? Was that you?"

The man turned his head slightly to make eye contact with Rory. He seemed to recognize her, because a small smile formed at the corner of his mouth. With a nod, he bent down to remove a wrapped package under the counter.

"I thought you might come back," he said. "So I saved it for you."

He unwrapped the top slightly to show the dragon wing on the hilt. A bright smile spread across Rory's face. The man continued.

"This is a rare sword, made by a blacksmith from a town far away, in the land of the Omega Dragons. It is a said an Omega Dragon helped forge this sword with its flame."

Rory's eyes grew wide.

"How much is it?" she asked eagerly.

The man paused for a moment.

"This is a weapon so high in quality, it is fit for an advanced swordsman."

Rory dug into her pockets and removed the two shiny gold coins she'd been given yesterday, which had a dragon's head finely carved on each side.

"I'm not sure how much this is, but this is the money I was allotted."

The man shook his head slowly from side to side. Rory's heart dropped, but he went on.

"Yesterday I witnessed a special connection. We villagers are reliant on you and the other students at the academy to protect our sanctuary and our world at large. Please accept this sword as a gift."

Rory was floored, and not sure how to respond.

"Are you... are you sure?"

The man smiled sweetly.

"I am sure."

Rory extended her hands and let him place the sword on her palms. Along with the realization of the weight of the sword, which was heavier than she expected, Rory felt a slight spark through her body that felt like electricity.

"Thank you so much." Rory said, her green eyes shimmering.

The man simply bowed in response. While looking at the man, and holding the sword in her hands, Rory suddenly felt a palpable wave of determination pass through her body. Her next words felt as if they came not from her, but from a place deep in her heart.

"I will do everything in my power to protect the sanctuary," she said, her eyes fierce.

The man smiled back at her.

"Good luck," he said.
