Almost modern time (2021)

Oh... my god. Oh, my god. We were actually here.
I stared at the walls of my familiar house that I left so long ago.
It was still here and in tact, hidden in the basement of some underground tunnel.
I stood on my oak floors, gazing around with a smile when Alice stood with me.
"Home sweet home," I said then, inhaling slowly as I took in my favorite misty scent.
I gazed down at Alice then. "This is my home. It's called an apartment, but it's underground and hidden from the world."
Alice just swayed on her feet, seeming a little dazed like she just hit her head.
A cold fear twinged inside me, and my brows drew together. "Princess? Are you alright?"
A small stream of blood slipped from her nose, and my face paled.
"I like it," she slurred then, tipping her head back a little, "it reminds me of...."
I stepped toward her then. "Princess, what's wrong?"
She just smiled lazily. "I sorry... I just don't... feel... good...."
She suddenly fell forward, and I shot to her, catching her immediately.
She slumped against me, completely unconscious.
I just gazed down at her. "You outdid yourself. You could've told me it took a lot out of you."
I just scooped her up as her head lopped over my arm, and I carried her to my bedroom.
After kicking open the door, I just set her in my bed, and she relaxed into it immediately.
I then pulled the covers over her, staring down at her briefly as she slept.
I then leaned forward, setting my forehead to hers. "Shhh... my little Angel. You did good. You can rest for a little now, Sweetheart." I lightly kissed her forehead. "Thank you."
I stood then, about to leave.
But she caught my arm.
I glanced back at her, finding her lashes slightly parted.
"Don't... go..." she breathed, more blood streaming from her nose.
Another twinge of panic burned through me.
I immediately turned and guided her back in bed. "Okay. I won't. Just rest."
I just got in with her, and she let go of my arm briefly before turning to face me.
I just wiped some blood away with my thumb, and she gazed up hazily.
"Sweetheart..." I said then, voice gentle, "will you be okay?"
"Yes..." she said then. "I forgot to tell you... that spells do this to me... Sorry."
I just breathed out a sigh and gazed over at her. "Rest."
She coughed a little, and more blood came from her nose.
I scooted closer to her and buried my face in her hair. "I might have more angel pills in my bathroom."
She shook her head. "They... won't work. We have to wait it out... No... magic fixes this... it's the cost of doing a spell... and... and I have to deal with it... That's... how spells work."
"Okay," I said gently. "Please, just rest. Close your eyes, please."
She laughed uneasily. "You... look so worried... It's unlike you."
I just pursed my lips and wiped more blood away from her nose. "Please."
She breathed uneasily before shutting her lashes, and she faded into her dreams.
