Jeong Hye Jin
Jeong HighHye Jin: "Let's talk somewhere else, Ri An."
I left Kang Ah in the hallway and led the way, knowing Ri An would follow.
I stood in the break room, my eyes fixed on our familiar seat as if it held the answers to all my questions. The room was spacious, with a large, comfortable green sofa that could accommodate several people, positioned near a vast bay window. The soft light streaming through the window bathed the room in an almost ethereal glow, adding a touch of serenity to the otherwise tense moment.
Hera, Woojin, Jae I, Ri An, and I used to spend a lot of time here during breaks, laughing and studying together. Now, those memories seemed distant and bittersweet. My heart was heavy with unresolved feelings, and the bright, inviting light seemed to mock my inner turmoil. Every hum of the vending machine, every tick of the clock on the wall, intensified the silence that surrounded me.
The door opened, and Ri An walked in. His silhouette was framed by the soft glow from the windows, giving him an almost divine aura. His face was marked by fatigue and bitterness. His eyes, usually so bright, were now clouded with a mix of pain and anger.
Ri An: What do you want ?
His voice was sharp, cutting through the silence. I felt a pang of guilt and anger mixed within me. I knew this confrontation was inevitable, but it didn't make it any easier.
Hye Jin: I need to talk to you, Ri An.
Ri An: We have nothing to say to each other, Hye Jin.
I stepped forward, leaving Kang Ah behind. My pulse quickened as I approached Ri An, the distance between us feeling like an insurmountable chasm. His eyes, cold and unyielding, watched me with a mixture of suspicion and hurt.
Ri An: Speak.
The room felt suffocating, filled with the ghosts of our past. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my voice and my emotions. The soft glow from the lamp cast long shadows on the walls, mirroring the shadows in our relationship.
Hye Jin: What's going on with you, Ri An?
His face remained impassive, but I could see the storm brewing in his eyes.
Ri An: Nothing. You said you wanted to talk, so talk.
His tone was cold, detached. It cut through me, but I pressed on, my voice trembling with the weight of unsaid words.
Hye Jin: I wanted to apologize. I left without a word, without any news for so long.
He snorted, his expression a mix of disbelief and contempt. The room, once filled with our shared memories, now felt like a battleground.
